Review for Our Santa Fe River Inc., High Springs, FL, USA
Our Santa Fe River is totally grass roots with no paid volunteers. It is the most active small environmental group in North Florida. Its members have multiple projects always on the plate. We publish op-eds frequently in newspapers such as Orlando Sentinel and Gainesville Sun. We are very active fighting a proposed phosphate mine and our work was in an episode of Judy Woodruff PBS Evening News. We attend most of the water management district meetings and many, many meetings of county commissioners. We do river cleanups. We actively opposed the Sabal Trail pipeline and one of our photographs appeared in U.S. News & World Report. At the moment we are fighting a water bottling permit . We also do tabling at many events to educate the public about our water crisis. We also speak to our legislators in Tallahassee and are currently challenging the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for failing to follow the law and protect our water supply. Additionally we are involved in a leadership role in our community with the new Nature's Rights movement
Review for Our Santa Fe River Inc., High Springs, FL, USA
Our Santa Fe River is an very active organization with over 120 members. All are volunteers, no paid salaries. OSFR stopped 4 water bottling plans on the river, fought the Sabal Trail, a chicken CAFO, fracking, and are seriously fighting a proposed phosphate mine on the river. They organize and carry out river cleanups, do fundraising and donate to environmental causes.
This organization acts instead of just talks. Education is a primary goal and they have a powerpoint presentation to instruct.
Review for Our Santa Fe River Inc., High Springs, FL, USA
Our Santa Fe River is the most active environmental group in North Florida. Our main goal is education about our water needs, and to do that we donate to worthy causes, such as local schools, the Florida Springs Council, and others. Our members speak at schools, libraries and non-profits to tell about Florid's water needs. We have no paid volunteers, everyone works on his own time. We are known as force for the river, springs and aquifer.
