Review for Animal Shelter Inc aka Sterling Shelter, Sterling, MA, USA
I volunteered at the shelter and met a wonderful black lab mix pup. I'm a terrier girl, I didn't need a lab but he was darling. The next day I went to volunteer, he wasn't there. They said they'd gotten a call from one of the local vet universities, wanting a pup for a vet tech class. He was there 2 weeks and when he came back, he was immediately shipped out to a community college for another couple of weeks of school. This went on for 2 months, I never saw him again because he was always out at another school. I'd been thinking about him, dreaming about him at night and I felt like I needed him in my life. Finally I was there when he was returned. I took him straight out and put him in my truck and took him home. I called the shelter manager and told her and she laughed. She said she could tell how much I loved him so I could fill out the papers any time. I got him on my birthday, best present I've ever gotten myself. As you can see by his photo, I named him Rock Star. His tongue reminded me of Gene Simmons!
Rocks was diagnosed with epilepsy shortly after I got him. Within a short while, he could tell if my blood sugar was low (I'm diabetic) and I could tell if a seizure was coming. We were each others support animal.
