Review for Tangible Hope Foundation, Sausalito, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Tangible Hope Foundation is breaking the cycle of poverty and illiteracy for young girls in Ethiopia! They are given nutrition, basic health care, tutoring and mentoring. The 140 girls now in the program are thriving! A unique aspect of the program is that the girls remain in the community with their families who through direct contact with what health and education can bring are changing their attitudes about the value of girls. Age old cultural gender discrimination is folding under the influence of Tangible Hope.

Tangible Hope Foundation has been chosen as the most effective NGO in the region by the
Ethiopian government. Currently, 140 young girls are receiving nutrition, school uniforms, school supplies, basic health care and after school tutoring. An important aspect of Tangible Hope's model is that the girls remain at home in their mud huts with their families. As these formerly hungry, sick and sad little girls are transformed into healthy, happy bright and literate young ladies, the whole village sees them in a new light. They become valuable members of the community and the education of girls becomes the new norm. The whole culture for girls is changing for the better!

I am so proud to be a part of this organization! Instead of malnutrition, illiteracy, and too-early marriage and childbirth, the girls of Tangible Hope receive Education, Nutrition, Empowerment and mentoring that brings them all the way to university graduates.

I am honored to recommend Tangible Hope Foundation as a very effective and worthwhile charity. 100 girls in Ethiopia who would not otherwise be able to go to school are now thriving and learning.

Because of her personal contacts and her knowledge of the language and culture, Founder, Lily Yoseph is uniquely qualified to convince families to send their girls to school, keep them in school and not give permission for Female Genital Mutilation or early marriage.

For her work, Lily was honored to receive the Unsung Heroes of Compassion Award personally from the Dalai Lama in 2014 She was also chosen as a delegate of Pathways to Peace to the United Nations Commission on the status of women in March 2019. And, Tangible Hope Foundation has been chosen as the most effective NGO in the region by the
local government.

I met Lily, the founder of Tangible Hope Foundation five years ago. I was so inspired by her
passion and commitment to educate and empower young girls in her birth village of Kofele, Ethiopia that I was compelled to join her on this mission.
Now, I see the Tangible Transformation of the girls from sick, hungry waifs to heathy, happy and literate girls with a bright future ahead for themselves and their community. I am so honored to be a part of it.
