Review for Hip Circle Empowerment Center, Evanston, IL, USA
I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for my first class with Hip Circle - Yoga for Anxiety. I was welcomed warmly, learned so much, and as the least experienced person in the room - I had never done any yoga before - was completely comfortable. They provide a completely non-judgemental, supportive, body-positive atmosphere. I can truthfully say that some of the breathing and relaxation techniques helped lower my anxiety. I also like that the pricing is sliding scale for anyone who needs it.
Review for African Childrens Haven, Galveston, TX, USA
I have worked with African Children's Haven and several of the non-profits that they support in Kenya for a number of years now. They have carefully selected grass roots organizations that are doing good in their communities, with an emphasis on work that helps vulnerable children. ACH follows through with financial and strategic help and mentorship, to strengthen the groups that they work with. They are a credible, strong organization with focus, knowledge, experience, and integrity.
Review for African Childrens Haven, Galveston, TX, USA
The first time I visited one of the grassroots organizations in Kenya that African Children's Haven supports was 2009! Since then I've had the good fortune to see three more ACH beneficiary organizations in action while working in Kenya. Each of the four truly grassroots organizations, from a K-8 school in Mathare slum to a program helping Masai girls fleeing early marriage and fgm, was founded and continues to be run by charismatic, passionate local Kenyans. ACH not only gives financial support, but also guidance and mentoring when requested. The ACH board has decades of experience in on-the-ground international work themselves, and are uniquely positioned to select and support effective organizations.
