I'm very grateful for the Crowley Foundation because of the work it does to give young men, particularly young Black men the tools they need in order to thrive. Where most programs only focus on one or two characteristics when working with young people, the Crowley Foundation helps build strong men by educating and mentoring them in multiple disciplines. Young men who participate in the workshops learn the Crowley Foundation values of respect, community, family, leadership, charity, service and more through witnessing those values in action and practice.
The young men who pass through the various program develop a network of adult and peer mentors and are introduced to community & civic leaders who help them visualize success and help them believe in their potential. Participants also develop an extended family made of brothers who have learned the Crowley Foundation core values and are practicing the same positive social/emotional skills which lead to extended success in life.

As a person who works with youth throughout the Denver metro area I come across dozens of nonprofit organizations which all have great intentions. However, many times they are unable to deliver substantive, life improving, quality programing that will empower the kids or equip them for future success.
The JEKL Foundation is extraordinary because they teach skills which can lead to either to meaningful employment opportunities or entrepreneurial ventures. I've seen children's eyes light up when they create Newtonian fluids for the first time or learn how to code their own video game. That's their bright future to which the JEKL Foundation introduces them.
