The JEKL Foundation Inc touches and impacts many lives of individuals who are in greatest need of positive affirmation,education , and mentoring services in order to reach their fullest potential and contribution to society and others. The Foundation unleashes the untapped potential and skill set of aspiring future leaders that may have otherwise gone unnoticed and un-nurtured in their development. The "STEAM" focus of the JEKL Foundation Inc exposes their program participants to the essential technical skills and aptitude needed to enhance confidence and passion to achieve unprecedented success in whatever paths that they may choose to pursue. I am a true believer in this organization and program.
JEKL was a good partner in providing 30 science kits for a STEAM Camp in Guinea, West Africa. JEKL also worked with another NGO to provide students with laptops to practice typing and engage in STEM exercises online. This type of support helped our students to envision themselves as future leaders in STEM. Thank you JEKL!
JEKL is an amazing organization that engages the children and challenges their minds. The Director, Toi Massey has an impressive background in engineering and mathematics which has allowed her to design and deliver a stellar program. She provides a high quality program at low cost so all children can be exposed and engaged in STEAM.
JEKL is a non-profit that agreed to work with my students to build and expose them to STEM. My population of students is seldom exposed to higher order thinking science experiences. Ms. Massey, Director of Jekl, came to present to our students an engineering experience using simple, household items. Students were given masks, lab coats, gloves and were given the opportunity to participate in the project. Students that I usually must re-focus were totally engaged, excited and animated. Further, Ms. Massey gave students follow-up materials that each student returned with completed and lead their own discussions of what hey found and how much "fun" they had. I struggle to have all students complete assignments both in and outside the classroom. Students did not realize how much they'd learned nor did they realize their role as engineers. Her professionalism was superior. She taught our students like they were college sophomores not elementary students. As a person who works with youth throughout the Denver metro area I come across dozens of nonprofit organizations which all have great intentions. However, many times they are unable to deliver substantive, life improving, quality programing that will empower the kids or equip them for future success.
The JEKL Foundation is extraordinary because they teach skills which can lead to either to meaningful employment opportunities or entrepreneurial ventures. I've seen children's eyes light up when they create Newtonian fluids for the first time or learn how to code their own video game. That's their bright future to which the JEKL Foundation introduces them.
What I love about JEKL Foundation is the commitment to educating children in the areas of STEM with the Art component (STEAM). JEKL has worked hard to provide STEAM opportunities and education to all children in the greater Denver Metro area and throughout the U.S. What I would love is to see JEKL expanded and able to provide more education of this caliber to more children around the world. One of my favorite divisions of JEKL is their STEAM-In-A-Box which is a complete educational kit. JEKL's Founder, Toi Massey is very passionate about education and opportunity. She believes in being hands-on in her community by visiting schools and volunteering endlessly. I commend her and her vision, and I look forward to seeing greater things to come from JEKL Foundation.
The JEKL Foundation hosted a series of coding classes for teen boys called Code Like a King! The class instruction covered a lot of material, and the instructors were highly supportive of the students' learning, encouraging them to try their ideas and push themselves with their designs. Toi Massey went beyond her role as director by working alongside the students providing her expertise as part of the group. The boys enjoyed the class, gained new skills and confidence in an area where they are underrepresented!
My family and I learned of the JEKL Foundation about a year ago. This organization offered a scalable game design class for young men in grades 5 though 12. We knew that our son would be interested in such a class. So we signed him up. We never thought that this class would impact our son's life so much. After working with Ms. Massey to complete the six week class, my son volunteered to help with the next class. This experience morphed into a summer job and exposure for his desired college major. My family and I appreciate the help and sacrifice this organization has made in helping young people!
I run an Afterschool program that was in need of a facelift. Thanks to the JEKL Foundation we now have an Afterschool program that is thriving.
This was all possible because not only did the JEKL Foundation train our staff they also traveled to Atlanta to kick-off our coding program.

When I first heard about the JEKL Foundation and what they had to offer I was instantly intrigued. The reason for this is because I want my career to be within video game development. While there, I felt the high levels of stress in coding. After I masetered that, I came back to volunteer and help the teacher. It was an honor to be able to help other children in video game coding and I hope every young man takes advantage of it. This was an excellent experience.

The JEKL Foundation is actually one of the few STEAM organizations actually run by a woman with a heavy STEAM background! It's inspiring for our girls when Ms. Massey tells them about her journey and tell them they can be engineers and doctors! She has a Think Like A Girl program that my girls participated in and now when people ask them what they are going to be when they grow up the say they are going to be engineers!! I LOVE the JEKL Foundation!
It is amazing how Ms. Toi inspires greatness in the youth by just speaking greatness into them. I have partnered with Ms. Toi and JEKL for the past 3 years with my non profit Make a Chess Move - MACM. And then her being a Black Woman speaks volumes to these young black ladies out here. Shes relevant.
My son learned so much and had a major boost in self-esteem. This organization is amazing and is doing so much great work for students and families.
The JEKL Foundation is an organization that creates programs where students of all abilities are treated with respect and expectation. The Founder refers to all of the kids in the program as DOCTOR and the kids just light up when she does. My daughter has participated in several JEKL Foundation programs and in each one she feels more empowered and encouraged to become an engineer or a scientist! Whether its the coding class where the kids receive laptops upon completion or the Genius Workshops, Ms. Massey makes the girls and boys believe that they, too, can be nuclear engineers or go to med school just as she is and just as she did. The JEKL Foundation experience is unlike any other STEAM program we have experienced!
The value that the JEKL Foundation Inc. and Dr. Toi Massey has instilled in my children is immeasurable. This has given my children a true interest in the STEM and other fields such as social justice. My children not only want to pursue these fields but they feel that they can make a difference in the world no matter how small, starting within their community. Three of my children have no only gain coding skills but have made video games and now own their own personal netbooks. My oldest child was able to gain work experience with a Senator and planned and lead a teen summit on Social Justice. I can't say enough good things about this program and Dr. Massey. I am so thankful that she has a heart for children and seeing that they have opportunities that they would not otherwise have! Keep changing the world, one child at a time!!
