Review for DuPage Health Coalition, Carol Stream, IL, USA
DuPage County is fairly affluent, yet there are a large number of uninsured and underinsured residents as well. Access DuPage serves our community by screening clients seeking health care services, linking them to needed health services and/or a primary care-giver, and coordinating specialized services when neccessary. As is the case elsewhere, funding is often inadequate to the growing need, so Access DuPage must also seek grants, in-kind services, and other means of financial support in order to serve their clients. The most important aspect seems to be serving the clients with dignity, expertise, efficiency, and concern.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my work with refugees who have been settled in DuPage County. Not all of them qualify for Medicaid and their jobs seldom provide benefits. Access DuPage is the only place they can be assigned to a primary care doctor, rather than relying on the local ER
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
seeing the eyes of those who know they can now see a doctor without waiting hours and hours in the ER
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
clearly dedicated and able to work well with those who cannot speak very much English.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
give some of it to other organizations--they do not need $10 million because they serve as the central hub, screening patients and then linking them to clinics, hospitals, doctors, and specialties.
