My children and I adopted an adult male cat from their Petco set-up approximately 4 months ago, his name was Sunshine and we were told he was around 2 years old. Shortly after getting him home he displayed heavy congestion and a trip to the vet indicated massive dental disease and that he was more like 8 years old. After dental surgery and 2 bouts of antibiotics we lost Sunshine yesterday to liver failure.

Although I am incredibly upset about the misleading information, obvious dental issues, and the unexpected $1500 expense, my kids and I are devastated by the loss of a cat we came to love very much.

I have tried emailing them which is useless because their email kicks back as undeliverable, I tried calling them but their mailbox was full and not accepting messages. I am starting to think this non-profit is a scam.

I'm not asking anything or expecting a response but what I do think is that the information the volunteers dispense to potential adoptees be more accurate and their actual health issues be disclosed. Information on their website states that these animals are fostered and have all seen a vet so their health should be transparent.

We would have adopted Sunshine anyway, even if we knew he was older and his teeth were bad, but at least we could have been better prepared.
