Review for Atlanta GLOW, Atlanta, GA, USA
Why wasn’t Atlanta GLOW around when I was a teen/young woman? This is the question I continually ask myself as I get to know more about or see social media post related to #AtlantaGLOW. Atlanta GLOW’s mission is “to encourage, educate and equip young, low-income women to be thriving, self-sustaining leaders and effective agents of economic growth within their communities.” This mission was accomplished over and over again at the Annual Young Women’s Leadership Conference, held July 8, 2017. During the conference, over 30 teens and young women had the opportunity to hear from Marissa Mitchel of Fox 5 News, Chari Guzman, Miss Cobb 2017, Dr. Nicole Rankin, with the John Maxwell Team and more. Each speaker shared sage words of wisdom about the importance of education, self-love, and never giving up on a dream. Also, under the guidance of the Founder and Executive Director, Ashlie James, Atlanta GLOW awarded the Titus 235 Scholarship ($1000) to a deserving young woman beginning her college career in the fall. I cannot say enough about Atlanta Glow, Ashlie James, and the amazing volunteers that selflessly serve the young women of our community. If you know of a teen/young woman in need of mentoring, guidance in applying for colleges, or just a sisterhood of women that are dedicated to improving the lives of other women in their community, then Atlanta GLOW should be your first and only destination.
