Review for United Spay Alliance, Walkersville, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

United Spay Alliance is a valuable resource to help those who are working to get spay/neuter out to the public. Spay/neuter isn't very thrilling sounding but it works so having a resource like USA is important. Just for an example, our group worked to stabilize a feral cat colony in Maine that had 50 cats. That colony with spay/neuter over the years has dwindled to three cats. In short, spay/neuter work to prevent suffering.

Review for MARIAN'S DREAM: Philanthrophy for Animal Advocates (Marian Rosenthal Foundation), Brunswick , ME, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I cannot say enough good about Marian's Dream. Because of support from Marian's Dream we were able to start sustainable feline spay/neuter programs in two of Maine's poorest counties, and we have begun work on another county. Before the support from Marian's Dream these areas of Maine had no programs and no hope for solving their feline overpopulation problems.

Marian's Dream also looks at the big picture nationwide and is forward thinking. Currently, the organization is working on a campaign to "fix felines by five" months of age because studies have shown that the source of many cats that end up homeless/in shelters is accidental early litters. The campaign has gained the support of the major national veterinary organizations.

Marian's Dream helps animal advocates with projects that have both local and national impact.

Review for MARIAN'S DREAM: Philanthrophy for Animal Advocates (Marian Rosenthal Foundation), Brunswick , ME, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Marian's Dream and its executive director Esther Mechler should be credited with turning Maine into almost a "no kill" state. Because of Marian's Dream's spay/neuter advocacy, encouragement and working with individuals and groups, Sharon Secovich and Susan Hall started a state-wide state funded spay/neuter program. This led to a snowball effect of greater awareness of the benefits of spay/neuter in Maine. We now have several low cost clinics and spay/neuter programs in most parts of the state. Our euthanasia rate has plummeted to the point where we are just about no kill. None of it would have happened without Marian's Dream and Esther Mechler.
