Silicon Andhra and I are of the same age. Over the past 16 years, Silicon Andhra has not only given me one of a kind opportunities such as platforms to perform, a chance to learn about my culture and heritage, but also has become my extended family. The amount of love, affection, and support the Silicon Andhra family has showered me with throughout the past 16 years is definitely unconditional. Growing up in the United States, 20,000 miles away from family in India, one would assume that kids here would be detached from their original customs and traditions. Silicon Andhra has proved the opposite; I was so fortunate to be one of the first ever students to join ManaBadi the year it started, and feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to learn how to read/write/speak my language as well as participate in annual performances through ManaBadi. The small skits and plays our ManaBadi class prepared for the annual event led me to find my passion in singing and acting. Joining Silicon Andhra is a wonderful way to be involved in the community as well as participate in cultural traditions and practices. I wish Silicon Andhra many more successes in the future, and I hope it continues to positively affect future generations of kids like me.
