Review for Operation Paws for Homes, N.Chesterfield, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We had been thinking about getting a dog for a really long time, but it never seemed like the right time. Something that was holding us up was figuring out what our landlord's breed/weight restrictions were, but we kept forgetting to inquire. Finally on a whim, I emailed her, she said no restrictions. A friend on Facebook had shared OPH's page and it was full of the most heart warming stories of people finding their furever friends. As soon as I found out that there were no restrictions, I sent in an application to OPH, not really thinking anything would happen so quickly. The next day, I got an email from them saying "we have this litter of puppies we think would fit what you said you wanted from a dog!" So I checked out the pictures and immediately fell in love. It all happened so quickly that it's hard to describe. It truly felt like one of those right place, right time, meant to be moments. I was contacted by Heather Tokoli who gave me the run down on how it all works. She told me to check out the foster's Facebook page to see which pup I wanted. She said she personally loved one puppy in particular, and we ended up taking her suggestion and found our little Oliver (formerly named Longwei in his litter). We spent the next week feverishly getting ready for our new addition--buying him his bed, toys, collar, crate, leash, all the fun stuff :). Then adoption day came! We drove to the foster, Val Mocogni, house to meet him and ultimately decide if we wanted to take him home. Val was so welcoming and knowledgeable of the puppies, and we immediately felt so comfortable. It was very obvious that she loved fostering dogs and cared for each of them as if they were her own. We honestly could not have wished for a better foster to take care of our little boy! OPH has followed up a couple times since then to make sure everything was going well. I seriously cannot stress enough how fantastic this organization and its volunteers are. We are so in love with our little guy and are forever indebted to OPH for bringing him into our lives.

Love at first site is a truly wonderful thing! Our puppy fosters, like Val, are amazing people who make it all seem so easy! Thank you for the kind words!
