I began my journey with the Loudoun Literacy Council as a volunteer teacher of ESOL classes for adults. I have always wanted to do this type of volunteer work, as I believe that literacy is vitally important to all. I was trained by the Loudoun Literacy Council and have received great materials and support from them. I was so impressed with their work in our community that I gladly accepted a position on the Board of Directors and continue to volunteer in that capacity. I am very impressed with Nikki Daruwala and the high-level, strategic thinking she brings to the Council and look forward to supporting its important work going forward.

This is a great nonprofit that not only helps children from low-income families prepare for Kindergarten, but also gives the children free books to start their own home libraries.
