Review for USA Cares Inc, Louisville, KY, USA
I'm speechless. There are literally no words to describe how absolutely amazing this organization is, but I'll try. My husband is a disabled vet (100% through the VA for PTSD/anxiety/depression), and winter is a really bad time for him every year - as in, suicidal bad. This year has been particularly messy. The VA blows him off; he can't get any help from them when he reaches out for it, but that's a whole different story. The point is, this year we've spent a whole lot more time there than usual, which means I've needed to be off work much more frequently. My job is great about it, but if I don't work - I don't get paid. Bills piled up, and we've been struggling to keep ourselves afloat. We got a disconnection notice from the electric company and spent a few weeks scouring the internet and begging friends and family for help. We do NOT like to take advantage or have to rely on others, but truthfully, we didn't have a choice. After I'd exhausted every single option possible, I found USA Cares, Inc. They responded to my questions quickly and explained the process of applying. After I applied, I heard back from them the same day! I was given contact information for a caseworker (Darrika), and I reached out to her. We spoke on the phone, she got all of our basic information, sent me an email (immediately) with what documentation they needed, along with a link to a quick, online financial planning course. I'm sure I bugged the crap out of her by checking in and looking for updates, etc. but she was always fantastic with me, never frustrated. Only 2 days after submitting the application, on the day the electric was to be disconnected (technically scheduled the day before, but luckily they didn't get to us that day), Darrika informed me that we were approved and a payment was made. I can NOT express the relief we felt! My husband is triggered by major stresses, and no electric is a pretty big one. I was so worried for his physical and emotional safety, and USA Cares, Inc. relieved that. It's amazing to me that such a wonderful organization exists and can actually help - they take care of our Veterans, and to me, that's a huge deal. To Darrika and the entire team at USA Cares Inc, we can never thank you enough for your positive, friendly, and compassionate communication and all of your help throughout the entire process - you have no idea the impact you've had on our lives; it's so far beyond appreciated! Thank you.
