I visited Animal Place in Grass Valley in September 2016, I loved seeing all the animals - cows, pigs, goats, turkeys and chickens - all so wonderful. They were comfortable, well-cared for, and loved by all their caregivers and visitors as well. Animal Place provides shelter and care for abused and rescued farm animals and provides gentle and thoughtful exhibits and education panels to get people to think about how these animals live in factory farming and the abuse they suffer, and to see them as real living creatures rather than as products. There are panels with inspiring quotations from writers, artists, and philosophers about not showing respect for animals and not consuming animal products. Inside there is a small shop with books and educational material and some other merchandise. The volunteers are caring and knowledgeable - I thought they were very inspiring and if I lived anywhere Grass Valley I would love to volunteer there.
