A Facebook friend had shared an article about A Mother's Rest coming to Frederick County, MD, to serve parents and caregivers of special needs children and I honestly thought it was too good to be true. Blessedly, it was and is quite real and it's an honest-to-goodness lifesaver. My weekend at the Terrace Guest House coincided with my son's first week in a partial hospitalization program for his disorder and I was coming undone, to say the least. Those two nights of sleep, those cozy days of uninterrupted reading and napping in my room, the chance to connect with other moms, it was all downright medicinal. The women of AMR made us feel right at home in beautiful accommodations and even brought us homemade breakfast and goodies in the morning to start our days. I am so deeply grateful for what Andrea and Sandra are doing for the mothers who need to be mothered. I count myself as one of the truly lucky ones to have been given the gift of their care and compassion.

Attending meetings and participating in the online group discussions has been an invaluable resource for pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. The Birthing Circle provides a safe space for families to share and to inquire. Our community is incredibly lucky to have such smart and dedicated leaders committed to education and support for new and growing Frederick-area families.
