Review for DC Central Kitchen, Inc., Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have volunteered with DC Central Kitchen on my days off, usually a few times a month. But since my days off are not consistent, it's great that DCCK has flexible and easy volunteer scheduling, so I'm not committed to a certain day or schedule. The kitchen at DCCK is a well-oiled machine. They have experienced chefs working with volunteers of every level, and volunteers are never in over their heads. They are used to, and good at, having volunteers around.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the staff that I've worked with, some of whom have been through the 12-week chef training program

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

enthusiastic!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

find the most efficient way to squeeze every meal it could out of the cash

Ways to make it better...

I could have seen some of the end-results of our product, ie, where the meals end up.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  Volunteer & mostly, i help the meal assembly crew in the morning making and packaging salads.
