For the past 15 years I have been involved with the Career Guidance Institute and their Albuquerque Reads program, where we tutor kindergarten students to help them learn how to read. The program is very well organized and we have a large positive impact on around 150 students each year. We work with two students, one at a time, for most of the school year and we get to see their progress in developing literacy skills. It is the most rewarding volunteer work that I have ever done!

Just over a year ago, we adopted two little girls, Jessie and Poppy, from Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico. The process was relatively quick and easy (they brought the dogs by our house to meet our other dog) and they have been a wonderful addition to our family!
