I had been looking to adopt for months, and on October 16th I went, yet again, to Union Square, walked in the truck with all these needy souls. My eyes met those of Jasper a 2 year old terrier from Alabama. I immediately walked to one of the volunteers Marie, and told her I wanted Jasper. We talked about the adoption process and she had me take Jasper for a walk, just feel the connection. Well the connection was instant: it was love, on my end he needed a home and on his, he needed someone who could replace his previous owner. We went through the protocol of adoption and within one hour, Jasper was my son. At first he was confused thinking "what is happening to me, where is my home and my dad, and my brother". I spent a sleepless night or two just to make him comfortable about the change. Over a period of weeks and love, and walks/runs, he knew he found his home and I knew I found my friend. Now, I have a lot to say to the volunteers: first thank you for putting time and effort in what you do every week. Second, thank you for Jasper, you made 2 souls extremely happy.
