Review for Operation Paws for Homes, N.Chesterfield, VA, USA
I adopted my dog from OPH rescue in December 2015. When I adopted my dog he was about 6 weeks old and had a cute little walk that was thought to be caused by a early growth plate closure. Months after I adopted him I learned that his issue was actually a neurological issue. In July my dogs health started to deteriorate and he was no longer able to walk on his own. My vet told me that the only way to find out what was wrong with him was to see a neurologist for a MRI. When I called the neurologist they told me that the consultation would be $200 and the MRI would be a additional $2000. I was devastated, I loved my dog but I am a single mom in nursing school and there was no way that I would ever be able to afford to get the MRI done for him. I decided to reach out the the lady that fostered him for OPH and asked her if OPH ever helps people with medical issues. The foster, Laurie was so helpful she told me the name of the medical coordinator and gave me her phone number and email so that I could talk to her about my dogs issue. Shortly after talking to the medical coordinator, Shannon I was able to take my dog to a neurologist. I was able to raise some money for my dogs MRI, but could not raise the whole amount. OPH helped pay for my dogs MRI and additional follow up care, in addition to this I get emails from Shannon checking up on how my dog is doing. I am so blessed to have adopted my dog from this rescue. I decided to give back to the rescue for being so helpful by fostering and have met so many other people that help make this rescue amazing.
