My husband of 40 yrs died in 2006 after a lengthy illness. My first thought was what do I do now. I went through all the typical signs of feeling numb, depressed, forgetful and thinking this can't be real and expecting him to walk through the door any minute. A friend of mine, who lost her husband a few months earlier, told me about this all volunteer organization. We went to a Sunday Support Session & I found that there were people going through the same things I was. It helped to share my story. I continued to attend the Sunday Support sessions on a weekly basis. I went through the Six week recovery workshops that cover such topics as Understanding Grief, Sadness/Anxiety.Depression, Changing Roles and Moving on with your life. I don't where I would be today without the education, love and support of the people in this group. The men and women that I have met in this organization have become an extended family. We have all helped each other deal with this devastating loss and move on to a happier & healthy life. I know that none of us will ever totally get over the loss but as time goes by, it gets softer. It is important to know that you don't have to go through this journey alone. When you are ready to move on with your life into a more social environment, there are so many activities that the organization offers.
