My husband died tragically and unexpectedly last week. We have no means to take care of our 2.5 year old, I'm under care for neurological symptoms from covid with epilepsy and brain tumors. His ex wife is trying to be shady and take all his benefits.

My wife of 55 years was terminal with "dementia & alzheimers". She had suffered for 10 years and was comatose for the last 6 months. I was also suffering with her! I met several of the WPAC members and learned of their objectives and activities that helped those who lost a loved one. Grief support for all sufferers! Activities to get up and continue with life. The members have a common thread and are willing to assist the recovery in every day living. I attended several functions as a guest and entered the Association as a member to further enjoy more functions, luncheons, gatherings, dinner dances. All are designed to chase the blues and sorrow but not remove the memories of the past.

I say, thank you all for the good you do! John Lynn Folsom, CA

My husband of 40 yrs died in 2006 after a lengthy illness. My first thought was what do I do now. I went through all the typical signs of feeling numb, depressed, forgetful and thinking this can't be real and expecting him to walk through the door any minute. A friend of mine, who lost her husband a few months earlier, told me about this all volunteer organization. We went to a Sunday Support Session & I found that there were people going through the same things I was. It helped to share my story. I continued to attend the Sunday Support sessions on a weekly basis. I went through the Six week recovery workshops that cover such topics as Understanding Grief, Sadness/Anxiety.Depression, Changing Roles and Moving on with your life. I don't where I would be today without the education, love and support of the people in this group. The men and women that I have met in this organization have become an extended family. We have all helped each other deal with this devastating loss and move on to a happier & healthy life. I know that none of us will ever totally get over the loss but as time goes by, it gets softer. It is important to know that you don't have to go through this journey alone. When you are ready to move on with your life into a more social environment, there are so many activities that the organization offers. Don't hesitate, for further information, stop by the office Monday thru Friday from 10 am to 3 pm or call 916-972-9722. You won't be sorry that you did.

After my Wife died, I felt like I was going crazy, but after attending my very first meeting, it turned out that my symptoms were very typical for someone who was widowed: Difficulty sleeping, then not wanting to wake up, feeling like my mind was in a fog, reading something then not know what I had read, listless, feeling numb, forgetful, disconnected, hopeless.
Many others felt anger, almost everyone there felt some guilt, and everyone was lonely. Hearing from other widowed people, and talking about my feelings helped me to eventually work through the grief. More than once I have heard someone say that WPAC saved their life. Maybe it saved my life, but surely WPAC saved my sanity, and helped me rebuild my life and move on to be productive and happy once more.
