When I volunteer with or donate to the Assistance League of the Eastside, I feel certain that I am making a huge difference, and I see directly how so many people benefit. The Assault Survivor Kits give victims of horrific assaults an opportunity to wear new, warm clothing home after their own clothing is taken for evidence, and the Starting Over Support kits give survivors of domestic violence many of the essential items needed the morning after they flee an abusive situation. I feel blessed to be able to help these people at the worst moment of their lives in a way that shows our community deeply cares and wants them to heal.
