The mission statement of the Pacific Mesothelioma Center is a simple one despite the deeply inherent complexities of the misson -- build awareness for and spearhead research goals toward prevention of the disease that bears its name. But providing a support group for its victims and their families appears to deliver the most uplifting beat of this nonprofit's march. I've attended several of its key events over the past couple of years, and the smiles of the attendees in the face of the challenges many of them face say all I need to know. The Pacific Meso Center is an organization that at its core embodies a smart and caring spirit about the conquering of a stubborn disease that results from mostly unconcerned behavior and acts. And this is the path they should continue down by maintaining their focus on the people affected and the wisest and most comprehensive ways to treat mesothelioma
