As a member of Assistance League of the Eastside for 10+ years, I'm happy to say that we've made a difference in our community. Moments that I will never forget: two brothers checking out at Operation School Bell and each receiving a dental hygiene kit....one brother looks at his mom and says "Look mom, now we don't have to share a toothbrush!"; having lunch with 2 homeless women in a shelter, listening to their stories and knowing that any one of us could be in there place at any time, delivering Assault Survivor Kits to hospitals across the State of Washington - a job that unfortunately has not gone away; taking a simple family photo for women & children who had to run with nothing but the clothes on their backs to escape domestic violence, a treasured photo that is the first of many while they begin to rebuild their lives. And the best, but hardest, memory is the support, friendship and caring that this group of women showed to me and my family during a very difficult time in our lives. Assistance League of the Eastside rocks!
