I have been working for TEN Charities for about one year now here in Kolkata, in charge of the Child Sponsorshp project. I am impressed with how TEN networks among like-minded groups here to protect at-risk women and children. My job is to interview and interact through expressive arts with the children who are receiving educational sponsorships, which allow them to attend school or special activities. In just one year, I've seen many of the children bloom. All children are able to learn and take control of their lives if education is a priority – and this is proven over and over again with the Child Sponsorship program and the commitment of TEN and all the groups it works with in Kolkata. Visiting the children and our partner organisations, and then reporting to the caring donors back in the US and the UK gives me a great sense of hope. I am proud to continue to build this bond, this circle of love that pushes ahead children from very low socio-economic backgrounds and gives them opportunities they may not otherwise have known. One more reason TEN CHARITIES is a GREAT non-profit in my eyes is that they are very diligent about fully respecting the privacy of each girl, each young woman they work with. Each story is personal, unique, and often devastating... Rather, TEN Charities encourages each person to look forward and move forward, and must say I can support that wholeheartedly. Thank you for your commitment to these young people.
