I am a wholehearted supporter of Direct Relief, an organization that provides emergency relief and supplies to those in immediate need worldwide. When I make a charitable donation to Direct Relief, I know that my gift will be well spent providing care and supplies to those impacted by disaster and most in need. As an example, soon after Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia and devastating earthquake in Haiti, I received emails from Thomas Tighe, CEO, describing what happened, who's affected and what Direct Relief is doing to help. Direct Relief's assistance is a Godsend. I know from experience: when my family lost our home in the 2008 Santa Barbara Tea Fire, we learned just how important it is to have immediate help available.
