Ethical, responsible, resourceful, and well established with 70 years of experience in emergency relief and ongoing humanitarian needs. Whether you are looking for a charity in CA, one of the 5o states, or internationally- Direct Relief helps vulnerable people get the medicines and medical treatment they need regardless of politics, religion, or ability to pay. And, rest assured that my hard earned money isn't being spent on advertising, mass mailings or extravagant fundraising galas. This is a streamlined organization that uses technology to enhance the operations side and word of mouth to fundraise. Truly exceptional.

I have noticed how they help a lot of contries around the world with medines. Specially during hurricanes devastations which is when the help is needed the most. As I can read in the news and reports Direct Relief is really taking the donations directly to the needed communities.

Without a doubt one of the most ethical, transparent, and efficient charities out there. Their ability to excel at their own niche function in the sector is unparalleled. They're also the only nonprofit organization that distributes charitable medicines to all 50 states, as well as more than 90 countries. Furthermore, 100% of designated funds go to the donors program of their choosing. Thankful to have been a part of such a great organization.

I was able to meet part of the Direct Relief team at a social function. They explained to me in essence what they all strive for, and that’s helping people in difficult and unfortunate situations. It was very inspiring to see such a nice, caring collective of people doing what they’re all passionate about!

Keep up the good work guys!!!

Since Direct Relief is "in our back yard" many of the local kids here in Santa Barbara have formed clubs at our local High Schools, they are called Youth 4 Direct Relief or Y4DR. Almost all of the SB high schools have clubs now. The kids collectively raise money and awareness for Direct Relief. It has been such a positive experience for all of the kids. As they learn about what Direct Relief is doing they also learn about things happening in our world at large. Direct Relief has been very support and helpful with these kids recognizing the importance of our youth and of educating the community about the amazing work they do. Through all of this the kids have learned that they can effect change in the world, that our little community has grown a non-profit that works all around the world from Africa to our own Neighborhood Clinics. We feel proud to play a small part in the awesome work they do.

Direct Relief is an incredible organization that has provided medical supplies to local community health clinics where I've worked for years. Without their donations we would not be able to provide the medications and supplies for medical care that are needed. Not only is their support local, but their reach spreads around to world for disaster relief and rare diseases requiring expensive and hard-to-acquire medications.

This nonprofit company is exceptional, it is the only company that will actually help people in need with prescription medications that are easential to health and wellbeing that they would not be able to get otherwise. Not only do the donate and also help personally distribute these essential medicinal necessities but they also help with in the United States as well as all over the world to people in need. One of their employees, Samir, has been inspiration to health care community and as a health care professional I fully support this company's mission and service. I genuinely hope more will come together to support nonprofit comapies like this because it is one of the vital necessities our world is currently lacking.

As a public health professional who has worked almost entirely in the non profit world, I can absolutely say Direct Relief has been one of the best non profits promoting global health I have ever come across. It is unique for a non profit to tailor its assistance efforts to each particularl circumstance as opposed to using a cut and paste program for all scenarios. I'm fairly new to the charity sector in the USA but am so impressed by Direct Relief and really do look forward to working with, and perhaps one day for, this organization. 5 stars all around!

I am a wholehearted supporter of Direct Relief, an organization that provides emergency relief and supplies to those in immediate need worldwide. When I make a charitable donation to Direct Relief, I know that my gift will be well spent providing care and supplies to those impacted by disaster and most in need. As an example, soon after Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia and devastating earthquake in Haiti, I received emails from Thomas Tighe, CEO, describing what happened, who's affected and what Direct Relief is doing to help. Direct Relief's assistance is a Godsend. I know from experience: when my family lost our home in the 2008 Santa Barbara Tea Fire, we learned just how important it is to have immediate help available. A minimal amount of research on the work of Direct Relief would be sufficient to comprehend why exactly the organization truly does "deliver a world of good". The four star rating by Charity Navigator and 100% efficiency proclaimed by Forbes clearly define the wonderful and successful work of this organization; however, it was not until I worked as an intern there over this summer that I learned the extent to which Direct Relief will go to ensure they are helping the most amount of people possible. The staff and board members are extremely friendly, dedicated and passionate about their work, which is reflected in the organization's efficiency and transparency. The internship was not only an extremely fulfilling work-experience, but it has set a personal standard for how I would like (and expect) all charities to function. Direct Relief is a one-of-a-kind organization, which deserves publicity and support in order to assist it in its exemplary, continuously expanding mission.

Full disclaimer - I worked at Direct Relief for a few years. So, while I may maintain some sort of bias, I also know the organization from the inside out. Having worked there, I can say with confidence that I can't imagine a smarter, more ethical group of people than those at Direct Relief - people who on a daily basis work to get medicine to people who need it, and who serve as responsible stewards of donor money. I'm involved with a number of non-profits, but I'd give my highest rating to Direct Relief, and it's the one I donate to.

My wife and I have been contributing to DRI for many years now because it always responds in a timely way when disasters strike around the world. It is staffed largely by volunteers so more than 90% of a contribution goes towards medical supplies, etc that it sends out. Ie, its administrative overhead is very low. It also has the flexibility to find and fill an unmet need that other organizations overlook. After the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in March 2011 DRI found that the Japanese health system was up to meeting the needs of the victims. So, it contributed funds to NGO's providing support for housing, counseling, etc.

Direct Relief has not only been a "relief" to all of the free clinics in the U.S. for quite a while now, but it has served as inspiration for hard work on behalf of those most in need worldwide. Our free clinic has received medications, medical supplies, and consumer products that our patients would never have been able to afford otherwise. With Direct Relief's help, we have served thousands of medically needy patients and their families, and we have been able to expand that help when disasters have hit. We are very proud to partner with Direct Relief to help ensure all Americans have health care.

Although Direct Relief is an international organization, its work here at "home" commands respect. It is a quality organization with very dedicated people. In fact, it is such an incredible organization that their most experienced volunteer, Edythe at 106 years old, is still there today. What a fantastic testament to their mission, dedication, and services.

When I moved to Santa Barbara in 1966, my mother said, "Oh, that's where Direct Relief is!" As a doctor's wife, she had helped collect medicine samples for DRI from doctors' offices in our town in Kentucky.

DRI has come a long way since then, but still is one of the most effective, and cost effective, donations around. Who else multiplies your donation by 25 or 30 times? And they make sure the supplies they send actually are what's needed, and get to the people who need and can use them.

I first started donating to DRI after the tsunami in Indonesia, because I liked their privacy policy and I liked that they were very clear in how the money would be used (and what they would do if they received too many donations. ) I've given additional funds since then for various disaster relief (Hurricane Katrina, the earthquakes in Pakistan and Haiti, etc.), as well as for my annual CFC Campaign donation. I like helping Direct Relief International as I respect how well they run their organizationi and how much they respect and value their donors.

I doubled my donations after I got a raise at work. A month later someone contacted me because they noticed I had two auto-donations per month set up - they wanted to make sure they weren't over billing me. That's a first.

Great group - awesome place to donate in my opinion. 100% of your money goes to helping. Their operations are completely supported by an anonymous trust (or something like that)

Approx. 4-5 days after Hurricaine Katrina consumed ou cities A direct relief represetative showed up with a back pack and stated he had been up and down the coast looking for the appropriate physician to handle a massive amount of drug and medical supplies and everyone directed him to our boss, Dr. Alfred McNair. If it not had been for Direct relief during Hurricaine Katrina the Mississippi Gufl Coast would have been without over 5 million dollars in medical supplies and infant products. We recieved medications specific to our needs. We were able to distribute them to over 180 physicians up and down the coast as they were delivered to us. They also provided us with grants to help our physicians that had lost both their homes nad their practice with some funds to help them get back up and running so they did not have to relocate (our practice peronally lost half our staff). They were constantly monitering the supplies to make sure they were going where they needed to go and what else they cound provide that our small building could handle. I cannot say enough about this wonderful organization. It is as if you are handing your donation right to the wounded and broken hearted yourself except that they are able with their resources to multiply its worth 21-32% more. (Thank you Forbes Magazine for explaing why they are number one.) If you really have any doubts you can call me at 228-872-6291 and ask for Rhonda. Thank you also for all that you may have done for us during Katrina- if you were not here there was really no way to understand it. And God bless you if you send to this organization over and over again.

I worked with Direct Relief International right after Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar (Burma). The fact that DRI provides medical supplies to in country organizations makes all of the difference. They help the people who work in the country, know the language, the government, the systems and the culture. They don't ride in on white horses and save the day they leave that to the local heroes.
