I am currently residing in a shelter, the "willow house" and I am not receiving the services we were supposed to receive. I have been here for almost 6 months and they have not changed my DV status on my application for NYCHA, they have not spoke with me about vouchers, I have not had any help with receiving therapy. We have had no case workers. The staff sits downstairs talking about us. I have been complaining about mold in my unit for 2 months and now my daughter and I have a cough and runny nose we cannot get rid of. My safe boroughs were listed incorrectly and I was almost sent to the place where my ex lives. We are not allowed to ask for metrocards, pantry, or even help with doing laundry. We have male staff who work here who say some very bothersome things and stare as if we are pieces of meat. Other staff members are rude and treat you as if you are the scum of the earth from being here. They make comments about you being homeless. and say things to break you down even more. It seems like you leave abuse to come to more abuse. The place has the potential to be great if the things promised are implemented. However it seems like everyone is here just for a paycheck and not to assist. They do not seem to understand how important their jobs are, our lives are seriously in their hands.
