While I have no particular experience with POGO, my general impression is favorable.

British Philosopher Frances Bacon, (the scientists not the artist) said, "Knowledge is
Power." When you know something you have the power to act.

Louis Brandies, writing in his classic book, Other People's Money, (101 years ago!) said you can have great wealth or democracy but not both. He is best remembered for his quote,"Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and an electric light the best policeman."

Perhaps the best illustration, which you should obtain permission to print is the cartoon by the late great Herblock, the editorial cartoonist of the Washington Post.

His cartoon showing two middle aged bureaucrats with 1950s suits look at a paper with the signs "U.S. Department of..." They are examining a document. One says to the other, "Well, we certainly botched that job. What will we stamp it, Secret or Top Secret?"

That says it all. Everything else is data and details.
