Review for NeedyMeds, Gloucester, MA, USA
As a social worker in a community based mental health/indigent care clinic, I have used the services/support of NeedyMeds more than I can count. However, there are 2 specific occasions that stand out...
1). A dying woman with Bladder Cancer could not get health insurance because she and her husband had assets (an old motorhome). The couple decided to separate because without healthcare this woman would surely die. She was living in a TENT in someone's back yard (no room in the Inn and her cancer treatment required distance from others who might become pregnant) in the middle of a Michigan winter so as to be close to the hospital which agreed to provide cancer treatment. NeedyMeds aided this woman in getting her anti nausea medications. She was soooo grateful. This woman lived in a TENT in the middle of a freezing Michigan winter with cancer AND she was grateful! It was humbling.
2). In 2012 a young father of 4 was diagnosed with Stage 4, inoperable, brain cancer. He was given 2 months to live. He was started on oral chemo. They had no money to afford the medication. NeedyMeds provided the chemo at ZERO cost to the patient. I can tell you, it is 4.5 years later and this man is STILL alive. Without that chemo he would have surely died and his children would have grown up fatherless.
I am a huge fan of NeedyMeds and I promote all that they do and stand for all over my own fb page and with everyone I meet. The services they provide are truly exemplary!!!!
