Teen Lifeline has been there for me, as an educator/prevention specialist who works with youth leaders and with youth at high risk for self-harm. I have worked with Teen lifeline for over 20 years in the Phoenix/Maricopa County area. They have responded to requests to help me train peer leaders in suicide prevention and intervention at two districts in the Maricopa County area. They have also assisted me and the schools, for which I have coordinated crisis response, when we have had the terrible experience of having student(s) complete suicide. Teen Lifeline has willingly worked with the administrators of schools to help them to create a recovery plan in the aftermath of completed suicide. They have also been willing to transport their peer leaders to present with me at depression and suicide prevention professional development training sessions and conferences. They have always responded positively to my requests for brochures and cards to hand out to staff and students and to set up a display table at conferences that I am coordinating. The directors, staff and peer leaders of Teen Lifeline are always professional and personal in their response to my needs and requests. I am thrilled that a former student that I worked with will be a BS social work intern at Teen Lifeline this school year and know that she will learn to "pay it forward".
