Review for Knights of Heroes Foundation - Rocky Mountain Ascent, Colorado Springs, CO, USA
This was my son's fourth year and my daughter's second year attending KOH. It was also the first year they attended without me accompanying them. The attention to detail and organization of getting the kids from the airport to camp and back again was phenomenal. I had zero worries. My son attended as graduate staff since he recently graduated high school. This was a perfect opportunity for him to feel accomplished and useful helping out with the running of the camp and bonding with other guys his same age. I continually see him return home from KOH stronger, braver, more independent and more thoughtful about the direction of his life. He saw himself as being more trustworthy and purposeful. He knows more is expected of him and he brings that attitude home. I am so grateful to all the staff and mentors who encourage him and praise him for his role at camp.
This was my 16 year old daughter's second year attending. She hasn't stopped talking about all the amazing experiences she had. With a history of anxiety, depression and struggles she comes home from KOH so much stronger, sure of herself, capable and thoughtful. She is able to get herself through struggles and has learned to turn towards strong calming women for advice and encouragement. The mentors at KOH are incredible. I never for one moment worried for her safety or happiness. My girl climbs mountains now, opens up to others, challenges herself daily and has lifelong friends who truly care. I am so thankful to KOH, Steve Harrold and everyone associated with this beautiful organization. It is a beautiful gift they all give to our family every year. I can't recommend KOH enough.

This was my 17 year old son's third year and my 15 year old daughter's first year attending KOH. They had a blast and are still talking about their week. My son moved into a junior mentorship role this year and this brought out so many amazing qualities in him. He is more helpful, more kind, more patient and has a heart that wants to give back now. He acts with more purpose now and looks forward to what he is going to do with his life. What a gift to watch your son behave more like a respected man and to hear the great things all the mentors had to say about him. My daughter has struggled with depression and anxiety for several years and this was her first year that she was able to attend. She blossomed at camp and watched herself conquer mountains, rivers, horseback riding and her emotions. Her mentor was phenomenal and caring. She and my daughter formed a great friendship and it was fantastic hearing my daughter talk to me about her joy and her increased self confidence. Best week ever! Thank you to every single person who made this week possible. Completely recommend KOH!

This was our first year attending KOH. My son is 15 and lost his father 8 years ago. It was simply put the most amazing week of both of our lives in a very long while. For the first time I connected with other military widows and felt validated and understood. My son is a changed young man. The amazing activities coupled with the incredible men who volunteered their time have impacted my son tremendously. He is more self confident, more kind, more focused and more mature. The young man I brought home at the end of the week was not the same kid I hugged goodbye to at the beginning of the week. He had an absolute blast and cannot wait to go back next summer. Thank you to every single person associated with KOH for your selflessness and caring. You all have made an absolute difference in our family.
