I have volunteered with Center For Family Services in many different capacities. Mainly I've served at the organization as an AmeriCorps VISTA member for two years. During my first year of volunteer service, I was taken back by how friendly and dedicated the staff were that I decided to sign on for another.

During this long term service opportunity I also took advantage of Center For Family Services Born to Read program. This was a weekly volunteer opportunity where I would go into one of our Head Start classrooms and read one on one with a child. This experience was always a high point of my week. The kids are adorable and excited to have a new face in the classroom, especially someone who wants to give them each one on one time. Literacy is important to me and I love that the Born to Read Program encourages reading starting at such a young age. The program also encourages parents to read at home with their little ones and gives them some educational material explaining the importance of literacy.

Through Center For Family Services I also volunteered two years in a row at their annual holiday gift drive. This is always a fun way to give back during the holidays!
