In order to raise money to restore one of Brackettville's first Hispanic homes, the Montalvo House has opened an organic market to raise funds for its restoration and preservation.

This requires a mind baffling amount of work. However, not only does it raise money for the project, but it has, possibly even more profoundly, raised the awareness not only of this small local community but neighboring ones as well to the vital importance of organic food for health. It has also turned locals on to the possibility of raising organic fruits and vegetables themselves, plus given local organic producers a market for their goods.

Who could have guessed that this project would have such far-reaching consequences for the community? It's a gem!
