Each time I open a message from the Center for Biological Diversity, my hope in the future rises. This organization takes on some of the toughest challenges in behalf of endangered species and it gets results. Sure, there is plenty to be discouraged about, this is no pollyanna organization, it tells us of the ignorant and selfish actions of fellow humans that are destroying wolves many of us worked so hard to save, for instance. But always there is something being done, something to take part in. These folks know how to take effective action in the courts and society. I've given up on some of the large environmental organizations, but my regard for the CBD keeps rising.
