I am a chronic Pain Patient that has suffered for many years due to Migraines, several Autoimmune illnesses, spinal issues, multiple joint surgery/replacements, & the gamut of medical issues goes on. Like so many, I had no "real" person or place in my local community to turn to. I "met" Barby online through Facebook,Twitter, & then discovered the IPF. I feel as if I have "support" mentally, physically & emotionally through the Foundation. I find a great deal of information here, & know that ALL of us are not only members, but patients also. Having a Chronic Pain issue & trying to "get through" to someone who does not have it, is almost impossible. That is why through the Foundation having all "patients", as well as Foundation members & advocates helps to give us a "louder" voice to physicians,the medical field, to the governmental bodies & helps to provide information to family members, friends & those who don't understand the horrible aspects of living in chronic daily pain, yet trying to have some kind of "normal life" as well. I am proud to be a part of the International Pain Foundation & admire each and every one of the members, the advocates, & the outstanding work they do to help ALL of us.
