Review for Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, New York, NY, USA
For eight years I have brought a group of ninth graders from several high schools in Manhattan to a soup kitchen or food pantry during the month of April to volunteer their services. Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen has been the best experience thus far. The staff were so friendly and helpful when we arrived. Throughout the late morning and early afternoon, the guests were welcomed warmly by the staff and volunteers. From the serving line to the bussing of trays, every aspect of this "soup kitchen" was managed professionally. A professional staff in a dining hall at a college could not have done a better job. Throughout the day, the staff, the longstanding volunteers, and the guests all engaged us in friendly conversations. I haven't heard "God bless you" as many times in a decade as I heard in four hours at Holy Apostles. On our way back to school, all of the students echoed my feelings about this experience. If you want to help an organization that knows what it is doing and really cares about the people it serves, Holy Apostles should be high on your list for volunteering and monetary assistance.
