I had a wonderful experience adopting from this rescue group! I adopted my first dog in 2011 and was so pleased, I adopted my second in 2015. My second was a dog w/health issues. Thankfully OPH rescues dogs of all shapes, sizes, and needs, otherwise she would have been euthanized at a shelter. OPH treated her heartworms and she is now very happy and healthy. I had interacted with many rescue groups when first considering to add a pup to my home, and as a single person, I often felt a bias with some groups who seemed to favor families with children. After a number of disappointments with other rescues I found OPH where anyone who is able to provide a safe and loving home for a pup is welcome to adopt, regardless of their marital status. Communication is an area where OPH really stands out, I applied to many other places via pet finder and never rec'd a response. OPH volunteers were very responsive and prompt with replies, even with questions and needs that arose post adoption. Adoption fees are reasonable and compatible with the other rescues in the area and go toward the costs of transporting dogs and their medical care. The online application process was also pretty straight forward and moved quickly. I find the volunteers to be extremely committed in their efforts and in the support to adopters. I've known them to help adopters find missing pets and provide training advice among other things. At no time did I ever feel pressure to make a rushed decision, they seem to really want to make a match that benefits both the adopter and the dog. They also have a awesome selection of pups, so many cuties it's hard to pick just one!
