Review for Operation Paws for Homes, N.Chesterfield, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this organization.

My story: Devastated by the loss of my beloved cat, I went to a dog adoption event to see whether or not I might maybe possibly want a dog. I made eye contact with one and was completely done in. That little furgirl (Millie) came home with me that day (after they checked my references, of course!). Almost a year later, I thought that dog might want a playmate and went to more adoption events. I brought Millie to see if she (a timid dog who had been rescued from a bad hoarding situation) would mesh with any. She did. So I brought home another dog from OPH. And that was the best decision I could possibly have made. They have brought out the best in each other.

The people who foster these dogs clearly love them a lot, and do what they do for the love of it, certainly not the profit (as there is none; they never get enough from the adoption fees to cover the cost of caring for these sweet beasts). They take in the ill dogs, the dogs near death's door, the dogs about to be euthanized, the dogs discarded by the uncaring. They fly in the potcake pups from far away. They drive several states south to get the dogs who no one else cares about. The foster them in their own homes, and many end up "foster fails" (adopted by the fostering human). These dogs are loved. Well loved. I've been nothing but impressed with the organization and the people involved.
