Erowid provides and maintains the only unbiased source of information on psychoactive plants and substances. This is particularly important in this Information Age where anyone with a computer can misinform anyone who would wish to use any psychoactive.

Without Erowid many who seek these substances would go in with a few anecdotal accounts from friends and forums. Erowid provides a comprehensive resource outlining scientific studies, misinformation, deaths, commonly mistaken substances, etc. all this alone would be amazing as there are an astonishing amount of psychoactive substances.

The true value in Erowid is not a sum of the aggregated information, but the community that has grown in this fertile soil. The community of Erowid is characterized by individuals who are responsible, open-minded, scientific, and, perhaps most importantly, offer a wide range of contrasting points of view.

Erowid has its detractors (as anyone openly discussing 'drugs' do) but it is out to educate purely for the mental and physical well-being, safety, and happiness of those who stumble upon it.

Though I don't know the founders of Erowid, or many of its top contributors and aggregators, I consider them my closest friends as they have let me out of more trouble than any friend I've ever had!

Truly a hidden gem of the Internet.
