Review for Center for Biological Diversity Inc, Tucson, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

An organization whose accomplishments far outshine its small size and visibility relative to a lot of the large, high-profile, famous groups, the Center for Biological Diversity concentrates on the harsh realities of what we as a species are doing to the planet and the other species with whom we (are supposed to) share our only home. Instead of beating their own drum and shouting to gain attention in the media, the Center gets to work and wins protections for species and habitat, educating the public along the way. I can't think of another group that does more to endeavor to save our planet, our fellow animals, and, in so doing, ourselves. Contributors can rest assured that their donations will be well and honestly spent doing what they actually donate to and for.

Review for Big Cat Rescue, Corp., Odessa, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Big Cat Rescue is an internationally recognized and respected sanctuary for abused, neglected, unwanted and otherwise at-risk big cats. Located in Tampa, Florida, USA, the dedicated members of BCR go far beyond giving sanctuary -- they are also deeply committed to educating the public about the plight of big cats, and encourage all of us, through their educational materials, website, videos, and actism opportunities, to become involved in the ongoing struggle to improve the lives, safety, and future of big cats of all species.

If I was to choose one environmentally active organization to support, it would be no contest -- The Center for Biological Diversity is the winner. Unlike the more (in)famous large environmental organizations, the Center is small, but packs a huge wallop when it comes to fighting the good fight for the earth we all live on and those who live on it with us. Instead of paying their CEO and staff huge salaries to jet around to meetings and summimts, the Center uses our hard-earned donations to actually get what we want done, to sustain this planet and make it a better place for us all to live on. Not only does the Center fight to preserve the environment we all share and which sustains us all, it also "gets" the connection between runaway human overpopulating and the plummeting quality of life human beings are experiencing worldwide, as more and more hungry mouths compete for fewer and fewer food, water, and space resources. For the maximum effectiveness for your buck, the Center for Biological Diversity is the clear choice.

The Center for Biological Diversity is a powerhouse of a small, grassroots advocacy organiztion that not only fights and frequently wins the battles for individual species, areas, and protections, but also "gets" the big picture regarding the major factors imperiling our planet and our continued survival, and effectively educates readers via their timely, concise and informative newsletter. I look to the Center to inform me and keep me up to date on critically important issues affecting the continent, areas I care deeply about and have lived in or visited, and beyond. Though I have been cutting back on email and some actions, I could never do without the Center's newsletter.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

numerous ways, particularly in the Center's successful efforts to save habitat and species in my beloved Mojave Desert.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them more funding and more members. They are a first-rate organization doing very important work with an uncompromising and committed view toward sustaining our earth and all its inhabitants.

Role:  Volunteer & Online advocacy on behalf of other species, ourselves, and our earth's viability.

As a longtime contributor and advocate via Big Cat Rescue's alerts and CatLaws topics, I can attest to the sanctuary's excellent longterm record in terms of rescuing and providing comfortable, appropriate life care for felines large and small, most of whom would have had uncertain or nightmarish fates if they had not had the good fortune to come to BCR. Big Cat Rescue is one of a handful of sanctuaries I personally know of which truly provide species-appropriate and safe (for the public and the cats) life care and enrichment for the cats, and excellent ongoing education for the public, as well as informative publications including advocacy issues the general public can become involved in. Big Cat Rescue is everything a sanctuary should be.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

and would make the lives of even more large, medium and small cats comfortable, enriched, and well cared for, which is what every cat deserves. Big Cat Rescue has a proven longterm record of excellence in providing sanctuary for big cats.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
