Review for Raptor House Rehabilitation Center, Yakima, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have enjoyed working with Marsha Flamm at the Raptor House for nearly 5 years. I am continually amazed at the work, and work ethic for the cause, done there. Ms. Flamm puts her all into the rehabilitation of any and all birds (and sometimes other critters) that come to the center. Her education programs are top notch, both very educational and entertaining, leaving the children with a new respect for and understanding of raptors, and our area wildlife in general. I will continue to volunteer for Raptor House Rehabilitation Center for as long as I am able.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Learning valuable information about conservancy, and having helped in the cause.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

See that Raptor House had a medical building of it's own, with equipment. Sometimes it's a matter of how quickly an animal can get medical attention, and the drive to the vet may be too much.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing my children not only gain knowledge, but crave more about area wildlife.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Amazing, Marsha is always willing to take the time to teach or help in any way that is asked of her.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do more of what it does, Marsha would no doubt use that kind of money toward the healing of, and teaching about her passion - raptors. Raptor House would become all that she dreams of, a grand facility that provides superb care.

Ways to make it better...

I didn't have to see Marsha working so hard with so little. It is difficult to watch someone who wants to do so much have to go without in other areas to care for her birds.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Money. Raptor House needs more funding. Marsha has the knowledge and the heart to do great things, but needs help to build additional housing and facilities to care for the sick and injured wildlife she takes in.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Raptor House is an amazing experience. Watching the birds, and Marsha with them, is awe inspiring. I hope she can always do what she loves and is so good at. We all benefit from places like Raptor House Rehabilitation Center.
