I had been looking for a partner dog to be a companion for my one year old black lab Shadow. I had hoped to find a 2-3 year old anything as long as it was good with dogs and children as I have lots of grandkids and they visit a lot. I tried another rescue and after a lengthy application I realized that they wouldn't even consider me for their dogs as they didn't look the fact that I had birds in my home too. I was going to just look for another breeder with pups and just get another pup and start again with the house training and puppy year as my husband and I call it, when a friend told me she fostered for the OPHRescue. I can't even begin to tell you how effortless they made this for me. The application was doable and they immediately E-mailed me back, there was a phone interview, I saw some pups that were located in different areas and it worked out that the friend that originally told me about the rescue had lab pup mixes and that some were still available. It was like it was meant to be. The whole process of finding a pup and bring it home was so fast and efficient that I am telling anyone looking for a rescue to go here first. I love that the dogs are fostered so they get that immediate loving atmosphere that they so need and that the rescue works with you to answer your questions and concerns ASAP. With OPHRescue your never alone in your new venture. I can't say enough about how they changed my mind about getting a rescue.
