As an elementary counselor I cannot tell you how wonderful Operation School Bell, put on by the Assistance League of the Eastside, is. I channel my United Way donation to the Assistance League because I know that the money is carefully spent and volunteers do so much. The day after shopping, students are constantly checking out their new shoes and clothes. They look so proud and happy. The fact that they can buy shoes, underwear, pj's and coats is so helpful to the families we serve. Almost all of the families supported are working for low wages and trying to make it in this expensive part of the country. This helps!
