My Nonprofit Reviews

Writer
Review for Pacific Heart Lung & Blood Institute, Los Angeles, CA, USA
After my husband passed away in 2011 from Mesothelioma, I decided that I needed to find a nonprofit that was dedicated to finding a cure for this "ghost" cancer. I call it "ghost" cancer because I never heard of it until my husband was diagnosed, and the TV commercials showed up.
We researched this form of asbestos related cancer, and found that there were only around 5 specialists in the U.S. Dr. Cameron is one of them. My husband was not treated by Dr. Cameron. At the time we lived in Northern California, and he felt it was too far to travel.
After the passing of my husband, I prayed and researched on the internet for a non-profit that was dedicated to cutting edge research and the development of additional modalities that would make a difference. I wanted to make a difference and support them.
This non-profit not only does research to extend a patients life, but are working towards finding ways of early detection and prevention.
The staff are dedicated to the cause, and the people lives they touch.
There is hope for others who suffer from this deadly cancer, but on going research is needed and on going funding.
One day their research and breakthroughs may save your loved one.
I decided two years ago to monetarily support this organization on a yearly basis during the 5K run/walk Mesothelioma fundraising event. They are making a difference in the fight. With them there is hope for those already diagnosed, and for those who do not even know they have this silent killer growing inside of them.
I believe a cure will be found, and that the use of products containing asbestos in the United States will some day be eradicated.
