I work in a nonprofit that supports youth in foster care, and I've had the pleasure of working with the Ticket to Dream Foundation over the past year and a half. They have been incredible partners, enabling us to provide clothes, toys, school supplies, access to extracurricular activities, and educational support to thousands of youth in foster care every year. They've also worked to connect a nationwide network of foster care nonprofits, encouraging partners to share best practices to better meet the needs of the youth we serve. I think the Ticket to Dream Foundation is doing a fantastic job of meeting the immediate needs of kids and teens in foster care while also working towards long-term, systems-level change.

When I was a new teacher in the Ravenswood district, I had no budget to set up my classroom and buy essential materials. My grant from EPAK helped me cover some of these costs and start the school year without paying too much out of my own pocket (which was greatly appreciated, given the salary of a new teacher in EPA).
