Almost 4 years ago I saved my first homeless pet. I was searching for an organization to join where I could work to save many more animals. I happened upon Angels Among Us Pet Rescue simply by choosing the first rescue from a list of rescues published in Murray County. At first, my wife thought I was crazy but decided to humor my compulsion. The first thing I noticed in this wonderful organization was the cohesion of effort and community associated with all the volunteers. There was absolutely no judgment. We only witnessed kind words, expressions of appreciation and offers of friendship. The central focus was the mission of saving one more life and continuing until there were no more lives to save. I have met some of the most charitable and kindest individuals within the Angels organization. I am absolutely amazed at the level of coordination and cooperation that emerged from 2 ladies that one day had the idea of going to some shelters and saving some dogs. Today, this organization has grown to more than 800 volunteers including 450 active foster homes. It is my absolute honor to be associated with this organization and my wife and I decided to make it a full time commitment a little over a year now as we exited our careers of more than 3 decades to save more lives. I am so proud of my wife, Mary, as she is the team lead over spay/neuter. If you want to be a good person then surround yourself by good people. The members of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue are the BEST PEOPLE!!

Three years ago I wasn't even thinking about animal rescue. I was a career Engineer/Scientist who worked with my wife of 34 years. I was introduced to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. I started out as a foster and quickly developed the appetite to save lives. I wanted to make sure that the mission of this organization was to save lives and not make a political statement. After working with these wonderful people I realized that I wanted to be a better person as so many volunteers here demonstrated such selfless desires to make a difference. I convinced my wife to get involved. After 3 years in the organization, my wife and I decided to retire early to devote more time to making a difference in the fight for no-kill Georgia. Angels Among Us is truly an amazing organization that provides the opportunity to surround yourself with just the most amazing people for all walks of life. I was presented this year with the highest honor to serve as a Board member and I'm so proud of my wife who devotes most of her time to spay/neuter. I so appreciate all of the wonderful people in this organization who give so much without any expectation of return. They do it for the animals!!
