We adopted our Jake from Angels around Thanksgiving, almost 9 years ago. He was part of a rescue litter, along with his mother, who were all being fostered by an AAU volunteer. My children fell in love with him, so we went through with the adoption process. Jake has been the best edition to our family. We have since attended many Angels fundraising events and volunteered at a few. This is an amazing rescue organization who cares for these animals deeply.
We adopted our family's first dog almost 4 years ago. He, along with his littermates and mother were being fostered. All were rescued by Angels Among Us. Our dog Jake has been the best addition to our family. We couldn't imagine him not being a part of our family! AAU makes it possible to give sheltered mothers with pups a chance at life and forever homes. In many cases, these are the first to be euthanized in shelters because of sickness and care expense. We are grateful that AAU cares enough to rescue animals, no matter what the cost, in order to give them a better life. We are grateful.
AAU is an amazing organization with volunteers who truly dedicate their lives and time to the rescue, care, rehabilitation, training and homing of pets. I have volunteered as a foster and helped at events to aid shelters. It is very organized team with great support for the volunteers, fosters and adopters to make pet adoption as successful as possible. (Picture is Jinx - saved from a rural shelter AAU cleaned and provided supplies to)
I am a volunteer for AAU. This organization works very hard to provide care to dogs and cats in need. They provide foster pets and foster families support in all aspects, they help us save thousands of lives and help them find forever homes.
I have volunteered with them for four years. They work hard to make sure that their animals receive the best care and that they find families that are the right match for both the animal and the family!
I adopted a dog from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue over 7-years ago. Shortly after adopting, I started volunteering with AAUPR. My first activity was fostering digs. Then I adopted a second dog from Angels. After my third adoption, I decided I should volunteer in a different capacity :-). I cannot explain how rewarding it is to see a shaking, scared, shelter dog blossom into a loving pet and then be adopted into a loving home. There are so many great rescues out there. If you are in the greater Atlanta area, please consider volunteering with us - angelsrescue.org. If you live somewhere else, consider volunteering with a local rescue where you live. You will be so glad you did.
I didn’t plan to adopt again. But after looking online, I found an adorable pup. And she just happened to be a rescue with Angels Among Us Rescue. I was amazed at what this tiny girl had gone through. Lucky for me and my Loosey, Angels didn’t hesitate to rescue Loosey even though her injuries required extensive orthopedic surgery. She is now alive, happy and very spoiled! And for the past 6+ years, I have been volunteering with Angels helping save other pups like Loosey. “Save One Until There Are None.” Thank you Angels Among Us!
All the years I worked full-time I didn't have a dog because I wasn't home. First thing I did after I retired was to start looking for a dog, now that I had the time to take care of one. I looked dogs from many different rescue agencies and ended up adopting from Angels Among Us. They are far and above the best organization I worked with. The volunteers are extremely thorough and they work together like a well-oiled machine. They don't give their rescues to just anyone. They take the time to match the pets with the best owner for that particular animal.
I can't say enough good things about them!
I had just lost Brinkley, my beloved Golden Retriever at 17. I felt empty and depressed. Fortunately, I remembered that Jillian, my Chihuahua Poodle Noodles' former vet tech now worked with Angels Among Us. I got on their adoption page not expecting to find much and there he was a brown hound dog named Jolly Goodfellow! For a week I couldn't get him out of my head so I finally filled out the adoption papers. A few days later I got a call telling I'd been accepted and I just to meet Jolly at an event coming up. I went there, saw him and fell to the floor in love him. A week later he came home to stay and except for a trip to Florida he hasn't left since. We've been through discipline training and a bit of Barn Hunt competition. I'm looking forward to the Pandemic ending so we can enter squirrel treeing competition. He loves to chase up the trees in my yard. In fact, his breed is Treeing Cur. There's never been a day that haven't been prouder and more in love with him than the day before. Thanks Angels Among Us. He's just wonderful!
We have adopted twice from Angels Among Us. They are a fantastic organization with people that truly care for the animals they rescue. Our first kitten was only a week old when she was rescued and raised until she was old enough for adoption. She is the best member of the family! They followed up with us after adoption to ensure all was working out well in their new environment. We will likely go to them when searching for our next adoption!
We adopted 2 young kittens from AAU and were very surprised (and happy) to see how involved they were after adoption. They follow up with us to check in and offer advice on any questions we have, no matter how small. I have had a few cats over the years but never TWO baby kittens. It was very comforting to know we could go to them about any questions we had. AAU really cares about their animals even after they're adopted :)
This is a rescue that truly cares about the dogs and cats it rescues! They have made such a difference in the lives of so many people and pets!
In 2015 I saw a picture of the derpiest dog I think I had ever seen. He was wearing a tie and his tongue was out in this goofy, silly manner. On his post, the organisation said he needed a foster. I had fostered for a few years at that point but not with Angels. Something about him...I just had to apply to foster, even if ultimately I wouldn't be matched with him.
I think the day I applied I was contacted by the foster team and they scheduled my home check. I will never forget any of those women; the woman who approved my foster application, the woman who did my home check and then the woman who contacted me to set up my pick up of my new foster. (Which turned out to be the dog I applied to foster! He absolutely was the goofiest dog to ever live and love.)
The volunteers were kind, knowledgeable, empathetic, compassionate, humorous and personable. Everyone I have met in this rescue was and still is a tremendous part of a dedicated network of men and women committed to rescuing animals. But not only are they committed to rescue, they are committed to each other and the çommunities in which we all live. They stop at nothing to help those who need it. Whenever any of us need help, advice, support, someone to chat with or vent to, there is always someone there, it is true empathy and understanding.
I have fostered a lot of dogs through Angels. I remember every one of them. It is a meaningful and rewarding experience I wouldn't trade for anything. Let there be no doubt though, Angels is more than just a rescue for companion animals. They are a community for each other, for others, for the animals of course, and for the dream of a brighter future.
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue rescued my German Shepherd from animal control 7 years ago when he was about 8 weeks old. After my experience with this wonderful organization, I decided to volunteer for them. I have never been involved with a more responsible, well-organized and loving group as Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.
amazing group of dedicated people who give their time and money to helping animals. Very well organized. Their process is a little slower than walking in and walking out with an animal, but that is because they care about making sure the animal ends up in a good home. I've adopted three times from Angels and they are amazing! The animals stay in foster homes where they are cared for and loved until they are ready to be adopted. The fosters are caring and selfless advocates for the animals. I think Angels is the best organized and most dedicated group going!
I've been volunteering remotely for AAU for over a year now, writing posts and doing graphics, and I've had a great time. Everyone I've worked with is incredibly kind and dedicated to saving lives (dogs and cats). There are numerous ways to volunteer and if you find you need a break or want to try something new, they're more than supportive. Since I've joined, they've done a lot to get more organized and have better-defined processes to help volunteers. It's not perfect, but what growing organization is? They do a good job creating a community of support and try to keep the drama away to make everyone feel safe. They also have several volunteer appreciation events a year. So even if you can't foster and don't live near Atlanta, but you want to make a difference, consider volunteering for AAU :)
I love Angels Among Us. They’re a wonderful group that’s saved over 14,000 animals from high-kill shelters. I’m so glad to be a remote volunteer for them and make a difference in the lives of the animals.
I’ve been a volunteer with Angels Among Pet Rescue since the beginning! They are a wonderful organization that has saved thousands of lives, and will continue to save thousands more! It is because of them, I fell in love with my fur-baby, Jake, and made him part of my family! I will always be forever grateful to Angels Among Us!
Our family adopted sweet Gracie from AAU and have been richly blessed. We had been volunteers with AAU for a while helping with transports and temp fostering for precious fur babies, when we got the opportunity to temp foster Gracie, her mom and 2 siblings. We fell in love with Gracie and decided she had found her forever home. Her mom and siblings also found loving homes and we even got to have family reunions to catch up with everyone and stay connected. Both volunteering and adopting thru AAU has been so rewarding.
Our family has adopted 3 amazing fur babies from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. We are so grateful that 2 amazing women started this organization because without them, we wouldn't have our babies. And the real truth, they may not even be alive today without Angels. Thank you to all the volunteers that make this organization such a success.
I have been volunteering with Angels since the beginning. I have watched them rescue over 16,000 dogs and cats. Not the easy ones either. The ones that are sick and old and parvo puppies. Dogs hit by a car. Cats that are blind. I love this rescue!!
It started when my daughter and her fellow Girl Scout troop peers decided to do a project to help homeless pets. They needed a contact in the industry and reached out to Angels Among Us (AAU) for a mentor. Our volunteer AAU mentor turned us on to the plight of the thousands shelter pets who face euthanasia every day. We did our research, verified the anecdotes she shared, and decided to try to help not only as a troop but as a family. We began fostering dogs with AAU and 2 years and 8 or more fosters later, we are fully and happily invested in this awesome organization! AAU has saved over 16,000 pets thanks to HUNDREDS of volunteers, from fosters to transportation team, intake and approvals team, adoption application processors, vet case team, behavioral and training team, adoption event coordinators, fundraising teams...the list is endless and diverse but they all share a common love for and devotion to rescued pets! I am so proud to be counted among some of the most devoted, creative, committed, selfless and determined souls I have ever met. We push up our sleeves and get dirty all for the payment of a wagging tail, lick on the face, and the satisfaction of finding loving forever homes for equally loving and deserving dogs and cats! As a volunteer, I feel highly supported in executing AAU’s mission, troubleshooting challenges, and in staying respectful of my personal circumstances as they relate to successfully fostering. And not surprisingly we adopted one of our fosters, Ralphie, who keeps us laughing with his goofy antics every day! Volunteer and/adopt with Angels Among Us Pet Rescue! You won’t regret it:)
I have adopted three dogs from Angels Among Us. They are great dogs and we love them dearly. They would not be alive without this rescue.
We love angels among us pet rescue. We adopted our Toby there a year ago and he has been such a blessing to us at our house. The lady that was fostering him was great.
We adopted Fino in July and he has been a blessing for us. We renamed him Toby we just wanted to thank y’all.
I have fostered dogs for Angels Amoung Us Pet Rescue for 3&1/2 yrs. AAUPR is well known in the state of GA for pulling dogs and cats from shelters all over the state and being willing to take on the ones with health and some behavioral problems.
In the past week we have taken on cases that were desperate. A 4 month old lab mix puppy, hit by a car with multiple fractures of the shoulder and pelvis with internal injuries. A pug mix attacked by two larger dogs with multiple deep wound bites. The boxer mix dog found abandoned outside an apartment complex, severely skeletal, pressure sores with maggots and infection, skin stained and raw from urine and feces. None of these would have survived, but AAUPR has access to specialty emergency vet care in the Atlanta area and these dogs received intesive care, necessary surgeries, blood transfusion and 24/7 monitoring.
Let’s also speak of their cats. Recently AAUPR rescued a cat that was covered in tar and other cats with fractures and infections of various sorts. All of these animal have gone on to or are going on to foster homes and eventually to forever homes.
AAUPR has a following of wonderful supporters through social media and news media. Because of this, AAUPR is able to raise funds to cover most of the high expenses that comes with such cases and their everyday rescue needs. However, there are times it is a financial struggle.
Raising the awareness and furthering their reach to those who don’t know about them is vital in AAUPR’s ability to continue their work. Angels Amoung Us Pet Rescue’s motto, “Rescue one until there is none” is their battle cry.
I trust that this will reach people who are unfamiliar with Angels Amoung Us Pet Rescue, (angelsrescue.org) will look them up on the web, on social media and follow their work and become supporters of this non-profit organization.
We adopted a very skittish, fearful Irish terrier with skin problems. Her foster did a great job getting her skin back on track with the aid of the Angels Amoung Us Vet team. Her foster was helpful and worked with us on timing issues for adoption finalization. Once we got Molli home we got a better handle on what her needs were. We requested assistance with the training team and we had a complimentary consutation in our home where the trainer could see her behavior. The trainer put us on track with addressing certain issues which have helped. There will be needs along the way for more training and Angels make referrals to trainers the trust and who also give financial discounts for rescue dogs. I am very pleased with the adoption process and the follow up assistance given us.
I also foster for Angels Amoung Us Pet Rescue and would highly encourage others to join our team! We are very supportive of eachother and always ready with helpful tips and encouragement. There are opportunities to for training to to be a better foster. Always need new fosters to help save more dogs and make them ready for their very own "happy tail!"
I can’t say enough great things about Angels Among Us! We had such an awesome experience adopting our Lonnie! He had the most loving foster family a little guy could ask for. I highly recommend Angels to anyone considering a rescue pup.
AAU rescued my little angel last year from a dreadful hoarding situation - she was starving for food, much needed medical care, and affection. Having just lost my two elderly dogs, I was planning on taking a break to grieve, to travel, to rest.... Eight days later, I saw Nellie (formerly Vittorina), and fell in love. My husband and I were thrilled to pass AAU's vetting tests, and now Nellie is our spoiled, sweet little dog - ruling her roost, and us! Many thanks to AAU for their tireless, and invaluable work , particularly the foster parents who help these sad little creatures transition to the wonders awaiting them.
We have adopted 2 puppies from Angels Among Us. Great experience. They make sure owners and dogs are right fit. The dogs are microchipped and spayed They keep in contact through the first year and offer support and guidance. We recommended them to a friend they used them and now have a 1 yr old puppy. I would highly recommend thus organization.
My experience with Angels Among Us was beyond amazing! The entire process was very simple. After browsing online for dogs, I sent a message for my now best friend and I had her within a week! I talked to the foster mom on the phone, set up a playdate, and got to officially adopt her days later! It was super comforting knowing the foster parents are required to come to the potential home for the animal.
I have been fostering for Angel's Among Us for 7 years. I haven't found homes for 100's of rescued animals, but I have found homes for just over a dozen dogs. 12+ lives saved from shelters, neglect and homelessness. Angel's mission is, "Rescue one until there are none" and I believe I am doing just that.
This year, I am fostering a medical dog. A dog who would have otherwise, never had a chance to make it out of the shelter because her health was so bad. That is just one thing that makes Angel's Among Us stand out from all other rescues. They have so many resources, volunteers and supporters willing and able to help from the start; From getting the furbaby transportation from the shelter to the Vet, to getting the furbaby settled into a foster home and into recovery. Angel's has everything and everyone needed to help your foster become a healthy, happy and wonderful family companion. There is never a hand unwilling to help.
This is my foster Alida. She was owner surrendered to the same shelter she was adopted out of as a 60 lb 6 month old puppy. She was surrendered 7 years later weighing a mere 49.5 lbs, having severe skin issues, a respiratory infection, double ear infections, a UTI and was heartworm positive. This is our girl now, 140 days later under Angel's Among Us care. We call her, The Amazing Alida!
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is an excellent organization which works to save animal lives and find the right homes for pets. We worked with Angels Among Us to find a puppy and received great customer service.
The volunteers are easily accessible by email or phone and respond quickly to your questions. The process involves verifying that the homes are prepared to take on the responsibility of a pet and provides follow up care for spay and neutering.
We now have a new member of the family and would recommend Angels Among Us Pet Rescue to anyone who is looking to add a pet to their household.
I was looking for a dog to fill the empty space left by one I had lost to old age. I remembered hearing about Angels Among Us on the radio and checked out their website. I found my new dog fairly quickly. The staff could not have been more helpful. Within a day of applying, I was contacted and told the foster mom would call me to set up an appointment. That is one of the things I like. All the dogs are with foster families, so the adopter knows how the dog will interact with other dogs and people and how they behave in a home. After the adoption, I was told if for any reason, my dog did not work out, they would take her back. And if I encountered problems, they had staff that would work with me and the dog to solve the problem I never felt alone in the process. I would highly recommend this organization. They are the best!
Our family had the best pet adoption experience through Angels Among Us. We adopted our puppy Laszlo through the agency a year ago. The foster, Michelle, was extremely helpful and honest throughout the process and even answered many questions and sent resources after the adoption. The fee was reasonable and covered the neutering process.
In September 2015, following the death of my second dog in a little over a year, I was ready for a new dog, but I did not want a puppy....enter Angels Among Us. I saw this little face and immediately fell in love! Talk about puppy love! I was so impressed with all of the volunteers, application process, foster mom, meet and greet, etc. Very professional, friendly and efficient! I was so impressed I became a monthly donor and I am now a volunteer as well! Such a great group of genuine, caring people!
Best pet Rescue! I have transported, fostered, mentored & adopted through AAU. This organization is a FAMILY that supports each other, their rescues & their adoptive families. I would give AAU 10 Stars!
I have adopted 2 dogs from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and both times received top notch customer service and the dogs have been amazing family members. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a four legged family member.
December 26, 2013 we adopted our 5th dog at the time, Saffy from AAU. We were following the facebook feed not looking for another dog until Saffy showed up along with her sad story of losing her human mommy to cancer and now she had no where to call home. Saffy became an Angels dog and what an amazing experience it was from filling out the application and then getting a phone call to discuss why we would be a great home for Saffy. Then talked with her foster parents and arranged to meet the day after Christmas and as long as everything went fine she would be ours. Proud to say we adopted Saffy that day and she has been a blessing ever since. If you are looking to adopt - Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is the place to start. So professional, caring and great communication through the entire process.
We adopted an Angels dog and he has made a wonderful addition to our family! Everyone we spoke to and worked with was helpful and very nice.
Three years ago I wanted to expand my fur family. I already had one dog. I saw the Angels page on my Facebook feed and came across a story about a pregnant dog and started following the story on Facebook. Once he pups were born and old enough to be introduced, I went to the foster moms house and fell in love with the pups, adopted two, and in the process made a new friend in the foster mom. I also learned how wonderful this organization is and decided to become more involved. I have been a volunteer for two years and have had many fosters of my own. I am so proud to be a part of this organization.Angels makes sure that every pup gets to a loving home. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to be an adopter. My boys have completed my family. What a great fit. The support was amazing when I felt overwhelmed. I asked for help integrating two new pups into my home, Angels stepped right up to help. My boys were just three in june and their foster mom and I are still friends. See, that's what happens. You make new friends, find new family members, save lives. There's nothing more rewarding. Adopting through Angels has truly opened my heart and my world to saving animals. "Rescue one until there are none. "
Angels Among Us took excellent care of my baby, and they actually saved her life TWICE! First, they saved her from a rural, South Georgia shelter. Then they saved her life again by treating her for heartworms before I adopted her. AAUPR doesn't just go to shelters and cherry pick dogs. They also go in and save the ones that otherwise would never make it out alive. My entire experience with adopting from them was flawless from start to finish. These are people who are incredibly passionate about saving lives and finding the perfect addition to families who are ready to add a pet to their lives.
I adopted my wonderful dog from AAU! They have so many wonderful pets in foster care and the foster moms truly love the dogs and cats.
We adopted our sweet Lola in March 2016 from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. My fiance and I had been talking about adopting a puppy for some time. We heard great things about Angels Among Us so we began our search with them. After being approved to adopt, we began to browse through their Facebook and webpage. There were SO many cute puppies and dogs to look at, but we went ahead and submitted a few of the puppies we were interested in. Within no time, we found ourselves going to see a litter of puppies. This was truly the beginning to an amazing experience. We met their foster mom, Adria, who is by far one of the most caring and compassionate people I have met. She was very welcoming and full of great information about each puppy. After holding a few of the squirmy boys, I asked her if we could hold one of the girl puppies --who is now our Lola. :-) I knew right then that she had to be ours and we would do everything to make that possible. Adria is one of the main reasons we felt so sure about adopting and choosing Lola to be ours. Within two days, we met with Adria and welcomed Lola to our home. We kept in close contact with Adria for the few weeks after--and I am still in touch with her today! :-) It was by far the best decision we have made yet as a couple. Lola grew a little bigger each day and is now a 65 lb ball of love. When the time is right, we will begin another search for Lola's sibling with Angels Among Us. I highly recommend this organization and could not have had a better experience! Thank you AAU!!
My daughters ages 12, nine, and seven began volunteering for angels two years ago. We foster pregnant moms and puppies. We do this not only to give back to our community, but to also bring wearing it's not only to our family but our friends that there is a much greater need for animal rescue and many people think. Angels Among Us has countless volunteers that donate so much time and effort to this organization to make it what it is. A truly amazing group of people, that many times never get to see each other or meet each other. But the sense of community and willingness to help from Foster to foster, transportation, screening applications, and so much more is beyond amazing. This organization does so much behind the scenes to make sure that these animals are given a fair chance at life. Not only are we fosters but we actually faster filled one of our dogs. He now completes our own for family, and we continue to take on the responsibility of getting pregnant mothers and puppies a chance to have an amazing life! The white shepherd is our foster fail, my girls and me at an adoption event and the last of our 3 latest puppies still up for adoption. Angels Among Us is an awesome organization.
Last year we decided it was time for a new member of our family. We decided to let my husband choose his first puppy. We fell in love with the pictures of a beagle litter. I applied on line and got approved within a couple of days. I was contacted by the foster the next day who told us to meet her at an adoption event that weekend. She was about an hour late, and we had arrived early to make sure we got the puppy we wanted, so that was irritating. I spent the time talking with the other fosters. These are committed people!
Once the puppies arrived, the fosters who had been there already made sure that that the puppy foster knew we were first. Luckily, everyone else who was there for that litter wanted something different, so we all went home with our favorite pup.
To my delight, this puppy was already paper trained. I have rescued many dogs in my life, but none have been as well socialized and trained at such a young age as this one. When it was time for neutering, I asked for another month based on my research on health needs of this breed. They agreed, and a month later they arranged the neuter around my schedule and at a well-regarded vet fairly close to me.
This was a great adoption experience for me. The fee is a bargain considering the neuter is covered. I highly recommend.
I foster pregnant moms and puppies for this organization they goeabove and beyond to care for these dogs. Having had one have a csection and 2 very sick bottle feed puppies they spared no expense to make these babies well! I am also an adopter after foster failing my last mom. Love Angels they have such a great group of fosters who spend hours of their time caring for theses animals!
I've fostered with Angels for over a year and half and this is an amazing organization! Everyone will go above and beyond to help any volunteer and their fosters. The dogs gets the best vet care in GA, training if needed and always lots of love! We get not only the cute fluffy dog/pups but also the hurt, broken dog who no one wants, the parvo pups, and the older dogs. AAU goes above and beyond to save dogs and to find them a great home
I have fostered almost 100 dogs for Angels Among Us and the support from everybody involved, the outstanding level of veterinary care, the incredible willingness the save the more difficult cases, the determination to help the emotionally and physically "broken" ones, makes AAU the BEST rescue I have ever worked with . The way they go above and beyond to save a dog or cat is absolutely the way a pet rescue should be . Best pet rescue ever !!!
Angels Among Us has been a wonderful organization to work with! They all are so kind and caring, it's easy to see they really want what is best for the animals in their care. As a volunteer for over 5 years, I can't imagine working with another rescue! My family and I love Angels Among Us!
I have been trying to work with AAU since 5-7-17, my on-line application was approved on that day with a follow-up phone call. Today is 6-22-17 and I'm still searching. I don't know what happened. I found, I thought, my dog, but I was refused by the foster because of the reason she said she was going to keep the dog. Then I got a phone call about two weeks later from the same foster and she said that fostering the dog didn't work out and I said "are you trying to tell me I can have the dog" and she said" no" I'm tryng to tell you that you can't have the dog because you don't have kids" I again was heartbroken over the same dog two weeks later. I asked her why did you call me I was told 2 week before i couldn't have the dog, and I'm heart broken all over again. This is not right. I was nice about It but I did tell her I thought she was wrong but she had the power and I wish she had not called me all over again about the same dog. Well it wasn't five minuets later I get a text from the foster of the second dog I had wanted and she told me she let someone else have the dog because she was going out of town and the dog had to be gone by that Saturday and they were willing to take him right then, medical problems and all. So I lost that one too.
So I saw a set of three boy pups that I wanted to see all at the same time to see their personalities. So we set up a time, the foster didn't make it. We set up another appt.(everything was at and on her schedule) so I ran around town until she could meet with me . So I finally got to see them and I told her I wanted to see the most docile, quiet, and calm one. She showed me that one and I held it, it actually crawled around my neck and them went to sleep in my lap. She also showed me another one and she actually" said that pup was "hell on wheels" so I told her I wanted the one I had, the one I was holding, the docile one, and we made a appt. for me to get the dog. She said the dog was not mine until I paid for it so I gave her my credit card. I paid so this particular dog was now mine. She brought me the dog and did the home check and they left. I had everything a pup could want to be happy. The dog actually turned out to be a 4 lb., CUJO. So I got to thinking!!! I looked on the paperwork and medicine she left and she actually gave me the WRONG DOG!!! She gave me the dog she had told me that was "hell on wheels" . She knew what she had done too . She wanted to get rid of that dog so she gave it to me. So I lost out on my dog that I told her I wanted, the third time, because that was a way to get rid of the "CUJO". She did it intentional and never denied it. That is what "most Foster" do , WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO, NOT WANT IS APPROPRIATE OR WHAT ADOPTOR ASK FOR! I HAVE BEEN PUT THROUGH HELL AND BACK AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY IT WILL GO GOOD IS IF YOU GO TO THE EVENT'S, WHICH I DID, AND ADOPT ON THE SPOT!! AND THEN I'M NOT SO SURE IT WILL GO GOOD THEN. THIS HAS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE FOR ME, I HAVE BEEN LIED TO MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT,-- APPTS. HAVE BEEN SET UP AND THE FOSTER DON'T SHOW UP BECAUSE THEIR FAMILY LIFE GETS IN THE WAY, IF YOU ARE PREPARED TO GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THRU ----GO FOR IT!!!! BUT I WILL NEVER, NEVER GO AROUND THEM AGAIN, OR REALLY WHAT THEY NEED ARE DONATONS. IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE ANIMALS BUT SOMEHOW THAT HAS GOTTEN LOST!!!! IT'S ABOUT THE FOSTERS!!!! SOMEONE HIGHER UP NEEDS TO READ THIS AND AT LEAST LOOK INTO IT!!! upiI didn't have kids, I found another, I thought my dog, it had some medical problems, I wanted to think about it and by then the foster called me and said she had given the dog to someone else because she had to leave town by that Saturday and the dog had to be gone.
Angels gave me the love of my life and I will love them forever in return. Thank you my my sweet Aly
Angels led me to my sweet Max. He was thrown out of a moving car with his 2 siblings and Angels saved him. My life would not be the same without them or my little man!
I am a donor and volunteer for Angels Among Us and recently fostered a wonderful Cocker Spaniel named Becker a few months ago. Angels saved this little one and rehabilitated this loving dog that would have most certainly been euthanized without their help. This Rescue is devoted to saving as many animals in need as they possilbly can, and all walk the talk here working tirelessly to accomplish their mission. A charity very worthy of your donations and time.
March 20, 2016, I offered to foster a little dog that had been found in an apartment complex and that had been attacked by two larger dogs. His intestines were exposed and he was in horrific pain, with puncture wounds all over his tiny body, but he was still alive. Animal control had no means to help this little dog and called Angels Among Us Pet Rescue to help. Angels took him to an emergency veterinarian, where he had his spleen removed, lost part of his intestines and where it was learned that he lacerated a kidney. 8 days later, I brought him home with me to recover. He was frail, and barely eating, but once he realized that he was safe, and in a loving home, his recovery was swift and 31 days later, little Geoff was adopted by an amazing family with 3 children who love him dearly. I have fostered 17 dogs for Angels over almost 4 years and he was one of the sweetest, most loving creatures I've had the pleasure to help. What an incredible organization Angels is to be able to help a dog who had no chance without the support of donors and fosters. Wouldn't trade this job for anything!
I have had a wonderful experience with Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.
I have volunteered with Angels Among Us for a little over three years. Half of that time was fostering. I had to stop fostering when I "foster failed" aka adopted my foster and I am now at my limit on animals (3 cats)... For now that is.
I have been treated with kindness and respect. If I have a question, it is answered quickly and completely. It is a privilege to be part of such a wonderful organization that cares so much about animals.
Angels Among Us is an amazing group. They operate solely on donations and exclusively use foster homes for their cats and dogs, yet they manage to rescue hundreds of animals a year. The volunteers are a great group of people brought together by their love of animals, and they always put the animals first. AAUS has kittens, puppies, cats and dogs available for adoption year round, cared for in loving foster homes until the perfect adopters are found. And AAUS will rescue animals other groups won't take because they're 'less adoptable', either due to age, handicap or medical condition. These animals have the same chance at a loving home as adorable puppies and kittens, thanks to AAUS. The adoption process is thorough but reasonable, and the foster parents participate so potential adopters can learn all about the animal before they adopt. I adopted two cats from AAUS over a year ago, and I'm so glad to have them as part of my family. I love this group so much, I volunteer with them now! Check out the photos of my current foster kitties, Katerina and Lexi. If you're interested in adopting a kitten, puppy, cat or dog, check out AAUS. You won't be disappointed.
This nonprofit animal rescue is full of dedicated animal lovers who are incredibly passionate and driven. They rely on donations to be able to save the hundreds of animals they do. Angels takes on animals other rescues turn away, scary medical cases from horrific abuse and animals with no hope. Help them with their mission of ending animal abuse, homelessness and the need for kill shelters in GA.
I started volunteering with AAU over a year ago and my experience has been wonderful! I have a huge spot in my heart for animals. We must be the voice for those who can not advocate for themselves. AAU does a great job of training their volunteers, publicizing their available pets, and most of all giving their dogs and cats the love, medical care, and training they need to be adopted. Rescue organizations need so many types of volunteers to be successful. AAU does a great job of trying to fit a team opening with a volunteer's schedule, so they can be successful in their position. Working with volunteer director Susan DuBois has been a great experience. I'm so glad I've been a (small) part of the organization that has saved 10,000+ dogs and cats lives throughout the state of Georgia.
I just wish there were six stars! This is a phenomenal foster-based animal rescue organization. While the numbers rescued are now in the thousands, it's really the quality of care (and true love & commitment) that separates this organization and its volunteers from the rest. AAUPR doesn't just skim the "easy to adopt" animals out of shelters. It takes more difficult cases, as well...animals that would certainly be "put down", due to age, abuse, injury, and uncontrolled illness. It's an equal opportunity saver! In fact, I became aware of AAUPR through a Facebook post, asking for contributions for a kitten named Devin. Devin had been tossed from a moving car and his back legs were paralyzed! Devin was saved and now, lives a full life with a tender-hearted Dad and a vet Mom! As the cat leader at AAUPR reminds us, "There is a lid for every pot!" Thus, there is a family for every pet!
The men and women who volunteer and foster are truly outstanding. Their love and commitment to the animals they rescue is unmatched. Their integrity (and thus that of the organization) is unparalleled. They are mindful stewards of the donations they receive.
I now foster while I "winter" near Atlanta each year. What an incredible experience that has been! I also contribute each month. I choose to give more to AAUPR than any other organization, other than my church. I absolutely know that AAUPR leaders are exceptional stewards of donations!!!
Fostering cats has truly changed my life for the better. Although disabled, I've found something to make a positive & meaningful difference in this world. I'm wrapping up my second "winter" and fostering my fourth kitty. I have four personals, as well! Although I've had cats my entire life, the other fosters have a wealth of practical experience and advice, and have taught me so much. That's the beauty of fostering for AAUPR. Although diverse, we simply share a passion and a commitment to these animals. I've gained several dozen new friends.
Let me personally thank you for your interest in our rescue. And I am grateful for whatever means of participation you may choose.
I started following Angels Among Us Pet Rescue on Facebook back in the Spring of 2014. During that Summer, the rescue group acquired an abused kitten named Devin. His story touched my heart so I decided to donate for his care. That is what started my unwavering support of this wonderful organization. I was so amazed by the love and care that AAUPR put into this sweet little kitty. Not long after they got Devin, a few other special needs kitties came into AAU's program. Devin's foster mom made a Facebook page just for Devin and all of his new friends. She was always so good at giving the followers daily updates on how they were all doing. When some of the new kittens were able to be put up for adoption, I applied for one of them (Kamilla). When I went to pick her up, I knew that I wanted a kitty friend for her. It was just a matter of picking one out. I ended up choosing one of Kamilla's housemates (Dot). Kamilla's foster mom is an amazing woman and AAUPR is very lucky to have her. She puts so much into the cats. She takes the hurt, abused, and special needs ones, and rehabilitates them so that they can have a good life. I will forever be grateful to her for my two sweeties. There are lots of good people within AAUPR. They all work tirelessly for the good of the fur-babies. I appreciate what they do for the animals, and I will continue to support their efforts.
We were always animal people. Broken animals found us and we got them healthy and found them homes. One day at the vet, doing just that, we saw the flyer that changed our lives. "Foster Homes Needed". We had no idea there was an organization of people just like us. We made the call and within a week were fostering two cats. That was 4 years ago. Since then, we have fostered around 200 cats and a few dogs. We added three new furry family members. We volunteered in more ways and we made lifelong friends along the way. Angels Among Us is an amazing rescue. They don't leave family behind. They don't choose certain breeds. They take animals with major medical issues. They care so much about the cats & dogs in their care. And there are a lot of truly amazing people who save lives each and every day. I recommend them wholeheartedly for anyone who wants to adopt, foster, or volunteer.
Almost 4 years ago I saved my first homeless pet. I was searching for an organization to join where I could work to save many more animals. I happened upon Angels Among Us Pet Rescue simply by choosing the first rescue from a list of rescues published in Murray County. At first, my wife thought I was crazy but decided to humor my compulsion. The first thing I noticed in this wonderful organization was the cohesion of effort and community associated with all the volunteers. There was absolutely no judgment. We only witnessed kind words, expressions of appreciation and offers of friendship. The central focus was the mission of saving one more life and continuing until there were no more lives to save. I have met some of the most charitable and kindest individuals within the Angels organization. I am absolutely amazed at the level of coordination and cooperation that emerged from 2 ladies that one day had the idea of going to some shelters and saving some dogs. Today, this organization has grown to more than 800 volunteers including 450 active foster homes. It is my absolute honor to be associated with this organization and my wife and I decided to make it a full time commitment a little over a year now as we exited our careers of more than 3 decades to save more lives. I am so proud of my wife, Mary, as she is the team lead over spay/neuter. If you want to be a good person then surround yourself by good people. The members of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue are the BEST PEOPLE!!
Three years ago I wasn't even thinking about animal rescue. I was a career Engineer/Scientist who worked with my wife of 34 years. I was introduced to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. I started out as a foster and quickly developed the appetite to save lives. I wanted to make sure that the mission of this organization was to save lives and not make a political statement. After working with these wonderful people I realized that I wanted to be a better person as so many volunteers here demonstrated such selfless desires to make a difference. I convinced my wife to get involved. After 3 years in the organization, my wife and I decided to retire early to devote more time to making a difference in the fight for no-kill Georgia. Angels Among Us is truly an amazing organization that provides the opportunity to surround yourself with just the most amazing people for all walks of life. I was presented this year with the highest honor to serve as a Board member and I'm so proud of my wife who devotes most of her time to spay/neuter. I so appreciate all of the wonderful people in this organization who give so much without any expectation of return. They do it for the animals!!
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is one of the most dedicated, honest, and hard working group of animal rescue volunteers I have ever come across. They work tirelessly to save, rehabilite, foster, and adopt to forever homes 24/7. They care so much about saving these lives amd ending senseless animal suffering. 90% of every donor dollar goes to the animals care, and as a donor, I receive actual thank you letters. They are truly deserving of Gold rating.
The smell of urine and feces in the enclosed cement building was so strong that I had to cover my mouth to stop from gagging. It was June 7, 2013, and dozens of dogs were scheduled to be euthanized in this one Georgia shelter. I sobbed as I walked the line, realizing that so many innocent lives would be lost, all due to no fault of their own.
I tried my best to find Jake. Yes, I had come to transport one dog, but I wanted to save them all. When I found him, he was the only animal in that overcrowded facility that was not barking or jumping to gain my attention. In fact, he stood sheepishly in his small cage with a worried face, an anxiously wagging tail, and uncontrollable body tremors. He was terrified.
Little did I realize at that moment that Jake’s stress was only partially from being at the shelter. After greeting him, I reached gently into his kennel to secure a slip leash around his furry neck. Upon seeing my motion, Jake closed his eyes, flinched, dropped to the floor and froze in anticipation of being hit or kicked.
This furry, gentle giant had clearly been abused.
It was at that moment that I knew Jake would never leave my side unless he wanted to. Humanity had failed him, but I would not. I resolved to build trust with him and work at whatever pace he needed. His submissive nature had clearly been taken advantage of. Despite repeated beatings, he showed no aggression; just a desire to trust, but fear was holding him back.
Little milestones to the average pet owner became huge victories for us. It took three long hours for me to encourage him to shimmy out of the shelter on his fanny, with me sitting beside him every step of the way. It took four months to get a real leash on him. He refused to go through doorways for more than a year, swam out of rooms at the sight of humans, and remains terrified of loud noises and sudden movements. But, he never stopped smiling, and his tail wagged at all times, which gave us hope.
To many, Jake may be "damaged goods." To us, he was a hero. In an era of instant gratification, it was very hard for our children to understand why he was so fearful to bond with them when they had so much love to offer.
Fortunately, Jake has taught our children a crucial life lesson; that all good things DO come to those who wait, and through their careful approaches and unwavering patience, they now have a true soul dog. Jake's greatest joy is waking the girls up each morning and putting them to bed at night. He loves the bus stop, car rides, and his fur sister, Luna, our other rescue dog, who is balanced and we feel has also helped to rehabilitate him.
To think that Jake could have died that day is more than we can bear. He lives today because a rescue named ANGELS AMONG US didn't allow his past history to become his future destiny. His time was running out. Angels was willing to do whatever was necessary, medically or with positive training and rehabilitation, to restore both physical and emotional wellness. They are an organization that doesn't discriminate based on breed, background, or medical malady. This is a rescue that gives animals who would otherwise have no second chance a completely new destiny.
To know that Jake FINALLY knows love; well, that’s truly extraordinary. We will forever be indebted to Angels Among Us for saving not only his life, but more than 10,000 others.
