Review for PCI Media Impact, Inc., New York, NY, USA
Some of the most heartfelt experiences for me were those where our programs deeply touched our partners, and those community members engaged in the storytelling and production. PCI Media Impact produces some really great media materials to shift and change knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of target audiences. To do so, they use a capacity building model in which the engagement in the design and implementation of a program changes those directly involved. This was always a great surprise for me. I still remember Bosco, the scriptwriter in Bolivia, who started his career as the security guard at the community radio station and as soon as he started participating in meetings he realized his true passion was to write melodramas to promote sexual and reproductive health. Or Takun J, a young hip-co artist from Liberia that got so inspired while writing a song to stop rape (and for which he met and worked directly with survivors of violence), that the Liberian Gender Ministry designated him as one of its anti-rape ambassadors. I gathered many stories around the world of women and men that dedicate their lives to the betterment of their communities; and I've seen many of them get inspired and change in the process of telling their own stories.
